NO ONE'S POV.

ONE YEAR LATER.

"C'mere girl, come to dada." Leigh urged his daughter with wide arms as he was bent down to her level. Lilia couldn't help but grin at the interaction, seeing Leigh's face brighten up as their daughter tried to stand on her feet without support from her parents,

"Go on, Gabi, you can do it!" CJ cheered on his baby sister, who he adored. They were so cute together, he was always reading to her, playing games with her and trying to be the best brother ever to little Gabrielle.

Gabrielle Dixon-Perkins. She was perfect.

Gabi hoisted herself up onto her feet, taking a few steps towards her daddy with her arms stretched out towards him before falling into his arms. "Well done, sweetie!" Leigh cheered, lifting her up into the air and then onto his hip.

Lilia grinned at their daughter's first steps, standing up from the bench in the park and pressing a kiss against her forehead. She looked over to the other benches where Daryl and Carol were, saying their goodbyes as this was the day her dad was leaving to go find Rick and Michonne after many months of planning the journey.

"Did y'all see that?!" CJ asked his grandpa and aunt, skipping over to the approaching adults.

Leigh snickered and chuckled, "Y'all. I wonder who he gets that from."

"He learnt from the best." Lilia smirked and winked at him before looking over at her dad, who had just hugged CJ. "C'mon Gabs, walk over to gramps."

Leigh bent down and placed her on the ground carefully. Carol gave a smile at Lilia, admiring the scene in front of her as Daryl grinned at his granddaughter wobbily walk over to him.

"Nice job, asskicker." Daryl cheered, lifting Gabi up onto his hip.

"You cannot keep callin' her that." Lilia chuckled, folding her arms as they walked out of the park. They all knew it was time for him to go, his stuff was already at the gates that they could clearly see themselves approaching. Lilia was scared for her father, she wished she could go with him, but she can't. She has her children to look after right now. But she was still wishing that her dad could stay.

They reached the gates and Daryl got his stuff together after spending a few more minutes with his grandkids, hugging them tightly. Judith and RJ said their goodbyes to him too before standing next to Carol, until it was Lilia's turn.

She couldn't help but wipe her glossy eyes, trying not to sob there and then. God, ever since having kids she's been real emotional.

"Be safe, alright? Don't do anythin' stupid. Don't drive your bike into a river or some shit." Lilia croaked out, hugging her arms to her chest.

"I'll be back before ya' know it, Lia." Daryl softly told his daughter, putting his hand on her cheek as a tear ran down the side of her face, "Take care of yourself, alright? I'll see you soon."

"I know.. but I'm allowed to be a little sad." She sniffled, looking at the ground for a second to compose herself. "You're my daddy."

"C'mere." He nodded at her, bringing her into a long hug that she didn't want to let go of. She breathed shakily, "I'll miss you. I love you dad."

"I love you too. You'll always be my little Dixon, no matter what, Lia."

He kissed her forehead and she squeezed tightly before letting go and having to step back. She watched him mount his bike and start the engine as Leigh stood next to her, putting his arm around her waist and lifting Gabrielle onto his hip. Lilia smiled sadly as she watched her dad drive off through the gates, which Judith, RJ and CJ were looking over, and through the forest in the distance.

In a matter of seconds he was gone.

Gabrielle reached for her mother, who took her into her arms and hugged her close. Things were better now. And they always will be. It was a new chapter and beginning for everyone.

After all, they're the ones who live.

oh my goodness! the final chapter of my little dixon series <3

thank you so much to all my readers who have stuck with me, silent or not, i appreciate y'all <3

i started writing this like two (that could be wrong lmao) years ago, i have no idea, but damn it's been a while. if you told me when i first started writing this that it would gain a crap load of attention (over 160k reads on 1st book this moment of editing) then i'd tell you to take a hike LMAO ITS THE TRUTH

i decided not to add lilia into daryl dixon series, i feel like this ending suits better as ofc she's got her own family now and it'd be out of character for her to leave her kids and leigh in the first place, so i was always on the fence about it ever since daryl dixon series came out.

for the last time thank you so much for your support, reads, votes and amazing comments! feel free to check out my account and other twd books etc

i hope you guys have loved reading this book as much as ive loved writing it, im so happy we made it to s11!

love y'all sm, feel free to check out my other books.
