Marley woke up bright and early, trying to not let the fight she had with cole linger, but it did, of course it did.

Just as she was about to leave the door when she heard the Walter truck honk several times, her father pulled her to the side. "Honey, just before you go... me and your mom are going out of town for a few days. Business things." He told the girl.

Marley nodded her head, "oh, okay." She said.

"And because of the storm coming up, me and your mom just wouldn't be comfortable with you staying in this house by yourself."

Marley scrunched up her face. "So... where am I staying? Am I coming with?" She pushed. Andrew shook his head. "N-no, George and Katherine have agreed to take you in. It's just for a week or two."

Marleys insides churned. Living with Cole for a week or two?!

Marley only nodded her head before heading out of the door, immediately seeing an empty position in the walters truck waiting for her.

Cole watched her carefully as she opened the truck door with ease, greeting his siblings and Jackie.

"Okay, we've got a full car today," cole started, pulling up to the school. "So that means, Isaac, no offering rides home to random cheerleaders!" He pointed. Isaac rolled his eyes before hopping out of the car.

Marley spoke up. "I'm getting my car back today, so I won't need a ride after today." She said blandly before hopping out of the car and heading to school herself. "Oh, okay..." cole said quietly.

It's not as if he didn't know. He had been fixing her car for three weeks now. Still, something about that sentence hurt his heart, and he didn't know why.

Marley was grateful cole was a grade above her, so she never really saw him in the hallways.

She carried on with her day, but the fight she had with cole still was in the back of her mind. What did he mean when he said that she was the one who stopped talking to him? Did he really blame her for all of it?

"Marley? Marley!" James yelled, waving his hand across the girls face in attempt to get her attention. Marley snapped out of her thoughts.

"Sorry," she said quietly. James gave her a weird look. "You've been like this all day... is everything okay?" He sincerely asked her.

Marley had befriended James a couple months ago. He was really sweet. He had floppy brownish blonde hair, that fell right above his eyebrows. He was the cole Walter of marleys grade.

Girls swooned after him, but he paid no attention to it. Marley liked that about him. He didn't use his good looks and charm as a way of getting random girls to do his homework just because they were hoping to get a date out of him.

Marley smiled at him, "yeah, I'm fine." She assured him, but James wasn't easily convinced. He took a step closer, bringing his head down to her ear. "Wanna skip?" He whispered.

His hot breathe sent shivers down marleys spine. She knew she shouldn't have been skipping school, but she really did need to get out and be distracted for a while. And James was good at distracting her.

They walked out onto the school carpark, heading for James' car. Cole was leaning up against the truck, obviously skipping class too.

Cole stiffened when he watched marley walking with james. He watched her laugh as she put a hand up to his face and pushed it away. It made cole feel sick.

Marleys face dropped for a split second when she saw the boy, but quickly masked it.

James didn't like cole. He used to hate how close marley and cole were. Cole cleared his throat, "james." He said blandly.

James didn't even spare him a word. Before marley reached the car door, she heard cole take a step forward. "Be back by three thirty. On the dot." Cole said smuggly.

Marley rolled her eyes before getting into the car and slamming the door shut. Cole watched as they drove away. His mind couldn't help but wonder where they were going and what they were going to do.

He got snapped out of his thoughts when a smaller presence came beside him. "Hey, cole. Do you think you could show me where room twenty is?" Jackie smiled sweetly.

"Oh, uh, yeah, of course. Follow me, New York." He said, taking off back into the school building.

Little did he know, Jackie watched the whole encounter. And something about it enraged her, too.
