The incident with Scott had rattled Ophelia more than she would have liked it too, and yesterday evening also hadn't been the last time she had seen Elena Gilbert. Whilst the coyote had been leading her through the Preserve to a stream after the failed search at the Tate's house, Ophelia's sharp gaze had found the brunette standing amongst a clump of trees about a hundred metres away from her. The girl had been in the same state as at the animal clinic, with her head tilted to the side and eyes staring blankly into the space in front of her. Once Ophelia had tightly screwed her eyes shut then opened them another minute later, the deceased human was gone.

The hallucinations for the day hadn't stopped though. It had been three o'clock when she realised she was finally out of blood. She had gone to the hospital after giving Melissa a heads up, and the eldest McCall had snuck the girl into the storage room with the fridges to load her cooler back up. Ophelia was grateful the woman didn't ask why she had gone through one hundred bags in a week. She didn't need the questions, nor was she in the headspace to explain to her mother-like figure that she was off the rails again.

On her way out dodging past any looming staff or security, she had found the vampire with those ocean eyes standing at the end of the corridor, staring at her with his hands clasped behind his back and a small, amused smile toying at his lips. She hadn't known Damon Salvatore long, not long at all, but Ophelia had found herself to despise the manipulative, abusive, and irrational vampire almost as much as Elena Gilbert.
