Scum on the Wall
©2015, Olan L. Smith
Who scrubs the drain on our black hole?
A parent's job as plumber to overcome,
Remove the scuzzy goo called the universe?
Plop Drano to eliminate goop's throe;
Creation's walls now are burnished new. Life come
Life; billions of years of neglected chores adverse
Allow microbes to amass on all sides, though
The rest of matter spins down never to succumb
To emerge topside―quasars spew forth energy obverse,
Redefined stars whose energetic bow
Surges; it is creation's modicum
Of galaxies, new black holes and fresh gunk diverse.
