Safe under the cover of her blanket, Faith cried her eyes out freely. She was thankful all was quiet on the other side of her bedroom wall. That meant she would be able to continue her pity party without any interruptions of the sexual variety courtesy of her virile neighbor.

Virile?

When did she start associating Blaze with a description like that? She usually referred to him as sleazy, womanizing, or rude. Actually, those weren't completely accurate ways to describe him. He was more charming than sleazy, and though he had his fair share of women he always treated them nicely if the smiles they left his house with were anything to go by. He was rude though. He knew the exact havoc he was causing her with his nocturnal activities yet seemed to take enjoyment in her irritation with him. Why was that?

And why the heck was she thinking about him right now when a different male had caused the turmoil she was feeling?

Hunter.

She still couldn't believe it was so easy for him to move on after her. Maybe he just missed her so much he got wasted and made a bad choice. Who was she kidding? He didn't look the least bit heartbroken this morning, nor hung over for that matter.

"Ugh!!!" she screamed into her pillow. She shouldn't be wallowing. She should be the strong, independent woman she strived to be. The complete opposite of her mother.

"Of course she would pop into my head when I'm feeling like this," Faith spoke out loud to her quiet bedroom. It wasn't that she disliked her mother. She just vowed never to be her. Edith Viera was an emotional, extravagant, and flashy woman who got into then out of relationships more often than Faith shaved her legs. Growing up, her mother had a revolving door for men. Edith was constantly in love with one or the other, then in the next minute she was heart broken over the loss of the love of her life. Seeing her mother so needy like that had Faith vowing never to let herself and her happiness rest solely on the shoulders of a man. Yet isn't that exactly what she was doing right now? Funny how after all those pep talks she gave herself, she couldn't quite find the strength she needed to get over this. That's probably because she broke her vow and did exactly what she planned never to do by giving so much of herself to Hunter.

She was just about to pull the blanket over her head to start round two of her blubbering when a pounding on her front door sounded through the apartment. Shortly after a familiar voice followed, "Faith! I know you're in there! You better open this door right now or I'll be forced to kick it down!"

Faith guffawed. As if her 4'9", 95 lb. best friend Amber was capable of knocking a solid wood door down.

"I mean it! I'm spitting mad right now so don't underestimate my strength! You've heard of those moms who could flip a car to save their child? Well I consider you like my child and if I am questioning your safety there's no telling the power one of my Skechers covered feet could emit!" Amber yelled continuing her attack on the door.

Amber was nothing if not passionate. Maybe she had a point, the two of them were like sisters and if someone hurt one of them the mama bear usually made an appearance. Even if she couldn't break down the door, her yelling would soon have Faith's neighbors calling the landlord with complaints. That would just brighten Blaze's day to hear.

Blaze again. Damn!

Throwing the blanket off she got up and stomped her way to the door. She swung it open and just missed getting rapped in the nose by Ambers knuckles. "Finally!" was all she heard before being pulled down a bit into a bone crushing hug. "I thought you were drowning yourself in the tub or something."
