"We need to break up."

Ishan finally managed to get the words out.

Aditi wasn't saying anything. She was not moving. She just stood there . Ishan could see the tears forming in her eyes .

"Look Aditi I - "

"Don't talk to me." Aditi snapped
"If you did not like me , why the fuck did you not tell me Ishan ? Why ? "

"Aditi let me explain-"

"I don't know what I expected from you . I should have known better . You are pathetic. "

Ishan felt the weight of Aditi's words pierce through him. He tried to reach out, to bridge the emotional chasm that had opened up between them, but Aditi recoiled.

"Explanation won't change anything, Ishan. You've been pretending all this time," Aditi declared, her voice trembling with a mixture of anger and pain.

Ishan, feeling a lump forming in his throat, struggled to find the right words. "Aditi, it's not that I didn't care. I just... realized that my feelings have changed. I can't keep pretending."

Aditi wiped away a tear, her eyes now reflecting a mixture of hurt and frustration. "And what about all the times we spent together? What was that, Ishan? Just a game for you?"

Ishan sighed, searching for a way to convey the complexity of his emotions. "No, Aditi, it wasn't a game. I genuinely cared for you. But people change, feelings evolve. It's not about playing or pretending , it's about being honest with ourselves."

Aditi shook her head, refusing to accept his explanation. "Honesty? After all this time? You should have been honest from the beginning, Ishan."

Ishan's attempt at an apology fell on deaf ears as Aditi turned away, distancing herself both physically and emotionally. The silence that followed was heavy with the weight of unsaid words.

"I never meant to hurt you," Ishan whispered, his voice laden with all the unspoken emotions .

Aditi, now facing away from him, let out a bitter laugh. "Well, congratulations. You succeeded . You are just pathetic Ishan . I don't know what the fuck I saw in you"

"Aditi listen to me first -"

"Fuck off ." And with that Aditi left .

The painful reality settled in, and Ishan stood there, watching Aditi walk away, Ishan couldn't control his tears .

Damn it .

What the fuck has he done ?

He never meant to hurt Aditi . He just wanted to confess his true feelings before it was too late . He never wanted to lose her as a friend. He never meant to hurt her . He just wanted to be honest with her . Maybe Aditi was right. Maybe he was pathetic.

When Ishan returned to the hotel room , Shubman wasn't there .

Ishan couldn't stop himself from crying. He couldn't take it anymore. He felt pathetic. So pathetic.

Shubman walked into the dimly lit hotel room, sensing the heaviness in the air. The sight of Ishan, huddled on the edge of the bed, shoulders shaking with suppressed sobs, sent a pang through Shubman's heart.

Shubman rushed towards Ishan . "What happened Ish ? Why are you crying?I thought you went to meet Aditi"

Ishan, looking up with tear-stained eyes, struggled to speak.

Ishan whispered . "Aditi and I... we broke up."

Shubman was not expecting this .
Shubman moved closer, wrapping Ishan in a warm embrace .

"I fell out of  love Shub . I did not want to hurt her. I wanted to be honest with her before it's late . I did not want to lose her as friend. I --". Ishan confessed.

Ishan's voice was breaking as he continued "I thought it was the right thing to do, but .."

Shubman held Ishan tighter, his touch a comforting anchor in the storm of emotions.

" It's okay Ishu , I'm here for you." Shubman whispered.

Ishan buried his face in Shubman's shoulder, letting the tears flow freely. Shubman rubbed soothing circles on Ishan's back.

"You did what you thought was right, Ishu. It takes courage to be honest about your feelings."

Ishan said  in a muffled voice " I just wanted to be honest . I did not mean to hurt her."

"I know you didn't mean to hurt her . Calm down Ish. Calm down"

"Aditi was right...I am so pathetic "

"Ishu, you're not pathetic Okay ?  You had the courage to be honest about your feelings, and that takes strength."

Ishan, still grappling with his emotions, looked at Shubman with a mix of gratitude and self-blame.

"But I hurt her, Shubh. I hurt someone I cared about."

"Sometimes, in being honest, we inadvertently cause pain. It's a part of life, and you can't blame yourself for that. You did what you had to do right ?" Shubman consoled Ishan.

Ishan hugged Shubman tighter . Tears still rolling down his cheek.

Shubman whispered "Shhh...I'm here, and we'll get through it together."
