Masquerade

by Acorntopper and Warrior_Prophet

All the worlds a stage

Its men and women merely players

A masquerade in this day and age

But well said by the oldest of Sayers

Pretty faces gleaming

People laughing for attention

Ladies smiling fetchingly

Men reciting words of affection

Pretending to be someone they are not

Their fantasies they vent

For a moment they're the big shot

Acceptance of fraudulent intent

The room begins to spin

And the floor, it shows its cracks

As the lights go dim

People remove their masks

Disappointments lay deeply buried

As new masks are renewed in shadows

Subtle differences hardly varied

As true faces remain hidden below
