When Bai Yang saw the black figure, he finally realized that he wasn’t in reality, or in a world defined by laws. He was in a virtual world of magic. In this world, strength came first and human life second.

“Help me! Help me!” The woman saw Bai Yang and cried desperately to him.

In the Hidden Flower Mirage, he’d watched black robed figures kill people, well aware that two hundred and sixty three people died there. At the time, he knew that it was part of the original story, so letting it happen didn’t weigh too much on his conscience. However, the woman in front of him was an unknown character. Since she didn’t appear in the original story, Bai Yang didn’t know whether or not she was supposed to die. Most importantly, she saw him and was begging him to save her.

“Sir, don’t go over there.” Xiao Ling’s voice suddenly rang in his head.

Bai Yang’s raised foot stopped mid-air. “Why?”

“Sir, Xie Ze Tian wouldn’t save people.”

Bai Yang’s heart trembled. “But she about to die!”

“Sir, please don’t forget that we’re in a virtual world. That woman is only a set of data. It’s not worth it to save her.”

If it says it like that, then it must be true.

Bai Yang couldn’t help but look at the woman, but the black figure’s magic had already enveloped her. It seemed like she couldn’t breathe, and her body trembled violently.

Bai Yang couldn’t bear to watch.

“Sir, don’t you recognize that black figure?”

Bai Yang lifted his gaze and inspected the dark figure, and his eyes widened in horror. “Is… Is that the Demon King of Eternal Night?”

“Yes,” Xiao Ling replied. “If you save that woman, you might be killed by the Demon King of Eternal Night.”

Bai Yang was shocked.

He could never forget that if he died in the virtual world, he would also die in the real world.

Was it worth it to risk his life to save an unknown character? What’s more, that woman wasn’t even real, just a set of data.

The answer was obvious.

Thus, Bai Yang turned to leave. He took a few steps but, as though he suddenly had a revelation, he whirled around and flew straight at the Demon King of Eternal Night.

“Sir!” Xiao Ling was shocked beyond belief as she shrieked in his mind.

So, when he arrived in front of the figure, he used one hand to pull the woman from the shadow’s grasp and channeled magic in the other

With the force of his powerful magic, he cut away the remaining shadows grasping the woman. Bai Yang pulled her to one side and they both fell onto the grey concrete.

“Get out of here!” He said, and pushed the woman away.

The woman had some martial prowess, so, without a word, she got up and used all her strength to flee.

“Sir, have you gone crazy?” Xiao Ling’s cry echoed in his head. “Get out of there!”

Bai Yang didn’t pay any mind to the system. Instead, he rushed into the black fire, and the dark shadows that once grasped onto the woman changed its target to him.
