The town was having a large funeral for he multiple children who'd died the previous nights

Standing alone at the tree line (y/n) was leaned against a tree with his shirt open revealing several layers of bandages

???:you shouldn't look at stuff like that, you'll never get it out of your head.

The tsuguko looked over his shoulder and saw tengen standing behind him with his arms crossed

(Y/n) looked back towards the funerals without responding

Tengen walked up alongside his student

Tengen:as grim as it sounds this is something you should get used to, you'll never save everyone.

(Y/n):...I don't know why I chased it...I should've stay-

Tengen:don't do that. I would've pursed the demon as well, knowing an upper rank was here was impossible so just be glad your alright.

(Y/n):...and what about all those kids?

Tengen:nothing can be done now. But you can make things right by living on and getting stronger to eventually bring down that demon.

(Y/n) started clutching his stomach

(Y/n):I'm...envious of you master...your amazing and I don't think I could ever become half as good as you.

Tengen suddenly chopped his student on the back of his head knocking him to the ground as the sound hashira returned to his loud and over the top attitude

Tengen:well of course not! You'll never get anywhere close to me!

(Y/n) started rubbing the back of his head while looking up confused at his master

Tengen:why didn't you try and fight back?! I attacked you didn't I?!

(Y/n):h-huh? But your my-

Tengen:this somber and crybaby attitude! It's pathetic! There's no time for something like this on the battlefield! Of course you'll never surpass me! Not with an attitude like this! Not when you don't believe in yourself!

Tengen:bad decisions as a member of the corps almost always leads to lives lost! Forget those insecurities! If you let them overwhelm you everyone who's died will be wasted and never able to rest! YOU MUST ALWAYS BE DETERMINED TO GROW STRONGER NO MATTER WHAT! THE SHAME FROM BEING WEAK ISN'T SOMETHING YOU SHOULD BE DISTRAUGHT ABOUT! YOU SHOULD BE RIPPING YOURSELF A NEW ONE ABOUT YOUR CURRENT RESOLVE TO STAY WEAK!!

(Y/n) flinched as tengen raised his fist and punched his tsuguko in the mouth sending him flying into the closest tree with a bloody nose and bleeding from his mouth

The tsuguko's head was spinning after getting his bell rung by a hashira

The hashira grabbed (y/n) by his collar and lifted him up off the ground

Tengen:DO WHATEVER IT TAKES AND GET RESULTS LIKE NO ONE HAS BEFORE! GET STRONGER! MUCH STRONGER! DON'T LET THOSE WHO DIED BECAUSE OF YOUR FAILURES DIE WITHOUT MEANING!
