“Your nightmares follow you like a shadow, forever. ”

― Aleksandar Hemon, The Lazarus Project

Dylan’s POV

I had a dream that night. It wasn’t about the crash, but it was after. A person was in Andrew’s hospital room after he awoke.

“Your dad has given us the right to send you off to a new home. If your dad has any close friends, you can move in with them. If they kick you out, you’re forced to move in with your father’s parents.”

“But what if he has no friends?” I asked.

“You’re forced to move in with his parents.”

I sighed. Andrew looked at me. “You can’t tell us where we live.”

“Yes I can. Your dad gave me direct orders.”

I shook my head. A nurse came into the room. “I’m sorry, sir,” She looked at the older guy. “You cannot be here.”

He nods and walks out. After he is out of sight, the nurse locked the door and shut the blinds. She smirked at me and rushed up to me. Instantly, she pinned me to the wall. She grabbed something out of her pocket and the feel of cold metal pierced my skin. I felt it go in and out at least six times in my stomach. The last stab got a little turn at the end. The nurse smiled and walked out the door. I slid down the wall in pain. The wounds bled like total madmen. I held the one closest to my ribs. The nurse came back into the room. She pulled out a gun and pointed it at my brother. She pulled the gun and his machine went into a flat line. Then she pointed it at me. The bullet was released and there was a loud boom, then everything went dark.

I jolted awake. The sound of the bullet still rang in my head. I got up and rushed into the bathroom. I checked my stomach and saw no stab wounds. My blue eyes were bloodshot. Sweat rolled down my face. I sighed and gripped onto the sink. All of a sudden, I felt light headed. The nurse from my nightmare flashed before my eyes. I felt my grip slip from the sink. My head crashed into the floor, causing me to feel my eyes turn heavy.

Dark spots filled my eyes. They flashed before my eyes. The last thing I remembered was seeing the nurse from my nightmare above me and she held up the knife and brought it down.

Andrew’s POV

I heard a loud crashing noise come from Dylan’s room. Quietly, I got up and walked across the hall. I knocked on the wood quietly. There was no response. Turning the door knob, I heard the door click open. The bathroom lights where on. I saw Dylan lying passed out on the floor. Quickly, I rushed up to him. There was a knife slash in Dylan’s side. I tried to shake him awake, but he wasn’t budging. He still had a pulse, so that was good.

Getting up, I ran to my grandparent’s room. “Grandma, grandpa, Dylan’s hurt.”

I heard them rustle around. “What?” My grandpa asked.

They both got up. I rushed back to Dylan’s room and knelt down next to him. Grandfather ran up next to me. “Move over sonny.”

I obeyed him and moved over. My grandfather grabbed his hand. “Wake up, son. Wake up.”

Dylan groaned in pain. I sighed. He looked around.

“Oh my,” My grandmother said. “Dylan, are you okay?” She asked running up to the doorway.

          He nods, “Yeah.”

My grandfather helped him sit up. “Laurel, can you get him some water?”

She nods and heads out the room. What happened?

Dylan’s POV

My brother helped me to the kitchen. I didn’t feel the stab wound anymore. Grandmother walked over and gripped my hand. She put the glass of water down and then sat down.

          “What happened?” She asked.

“I don’t know. I had another nightmare tonight, but this one wasn’t about the crash or anything. It was different. I was in Andy’s hospital room after he woke up and this guy was telling us where we had to move to. Then this nurse came in and told him he had to leave. The guy left and then the nurse locked the door and closed the curtains. Then the nurse came over, pinned me to a wall and started to stab me. After that she left, but came back with a gun. She shot Andy and then she shot me.”

“Was the nurse an African American lady? Did she have black hair?”

          I nod, “I think so.”

Grandmother shook her head. “This isn’t good.”

          “What?”

“That was the lady that killed your parents.”
