Unexpected Feelings

Kabanata 2

The break ended pretty fast, buti nalang naka abot kami ni Seth sa room two minutes before science time, nako kung hindi, ewan ko nalang kung anong ingay maabutan namin sa pag-bubunganga ng teacher naming si Mr. Gonzales. He's super strict and wants all the attention focused on him.

The discussion started exactly at ten o'clock. Eventually, it ended within just a couple of minutes. Ganyan talaga yang si sir Gonzales mag di-discuss lang ng mabilis at yung mga key points lang tapos mag bibigay na sya ng seatwork task tapos lalabas nalang din sya since madami syang ginagawa lagi din kasing may patawag na meeting tapos laging kasama si sir. 

After Mr. Gonzalez left the room, they waited for two minutes to pass before standing up. Ganyan talaga mga kaklase ko, ni-mamake sure muna nila na hindi na babalik si sir bago tumayo at magtanungan. I understand how they feel because, even I, if it happened that I didn't advance my study in science, I would also go around and ask about how they got the answers. But this is me, Nash, the only student who loves science in this classroom.

Seth also stood up and asked Mica, his best friend, but it seemed like he didn't get any answers from her.  After I was done answering, "PIECE OF CAKE" I said it out loud, just for him to hear. I'm not the smartest student here, but my Science skills exceeds our top one student. All the attention turned towards me. Wala na akong pake kung sabihan ako ng bida-bida ng iba. Ang sakin lang, sana lumapit din sya sakin para mag tanong ngayong nasa likod ko lang naman yung upuan nya. I just want  to repay him. That's all, nothing more.

And as expected, I got Seth's attention. He then went back to his chair and tapped my back.  "Bakit?" I asked him without looking back. "Pwede ba mag pa-turo? Hindi ko kasi na intindihan si sir nung nag discuss sya..if okay lang.." he sounded like a shy puppy. I looked back and said "Sure, dito ka sa tabi ko. Tuturo ko sayo kung paano." Then I smiled at him. In the first place, this is why I said it was just a piece of cake.

He moved towards the chair beside me; it was Jake's seat. He's now sitting next to his girlfriend, which is why his chair is vacant. "Ito lang namang number one, three, five, eight, and ten" HE'S EMBARRASS? He doesn't have to, really. It was really awesome that he can answer half of it. "Ah yan ba? Ah sige ganto lang yan" then I taught him how I got my answer, and after just a couple of minutes, he finally got it right without me giving him a hand."Huy salamat ha? Hindi ko talaga alam gagawin ko kung wala ka..hindi ko talaga kasi na intindihan si sir kanina eh." He held my hand while thanking me for the help I provided. It was nothing, ni hindi nga ako nahirapan ipaintindi sa kanya kung paano yun, isang  beses ko lang ipinaliwanag bawat number, tapos na kuha na nya kung paano. His eyes met mine and the feeling of embarrassment hit me. "Ah..eh..sure."

Bumalik na sya sa kanyang upuan matapos mag pasalamat. Hindi na ako nabigyan ng chance na makipag usap sa kanya dahil bumalik na din si sir Gonzales. We checked the seatwork he gave us, and as expected i got it all correct together with Seth and Mika. She got it all correct? Akala ko ba hindi nya din alam kaya lumapit sakin si Seth dahil wala syang makuhang tulong dito?  She's kind of suspicious...

"Yes!" I heard Seth's voice. I smiled. Good work. And again, someone tapped my back. Initially, annoyance surged through me as repetitive back-tapping isn't the most comfortable sensation. Yet, it was only when I took a second to assess the situation that I recognized the sole individual seated at the back was none other than Seth.

"Yeah?" I asked without looking back. "N-noting..just wanted to thank you..Libre kaba mamayang lunch? Kain tayo sa tapat. Libre ko". I glanced back, and in that moment, he abruptly averted his gaze downward. "Sure, wag mona ako i-libre. Hindi ako sanay magkaroon ng utang na loob." 

"Okay, Good-bye class." Mr. Gonzales said and everyone stood up. "GOOD BYEEEE MR. GONZALES AND PEACE BE WITH YOUU"
