"What do you mean?"

The loud noise piqued the edges of my senses. Was it a dream?

"I'm not sure I can make things any clearer, Sam."

"Hey, watch yourse—"

"It's fine, Jacob."

"Fine? She's deathly afraid of us."

"She has good reason to be."

"Still! How could you—"

"I didn't choose this! Do you think I wanted this to happen?"

I couldn't move. I couldn't even open my eyes. It must've been a dream.

"Didn't you?"

"Excuse me?"

"I saw the way you looked at her, even long before you changed. You wanted this, didn't you? You wanted her."

"So what if I did?"

"So wh— so what? Don't try to play it off like it's not important. It's everything."

"You're just jealous because you didn't imprint on the girl you're in love with! Don't take your anger out on me when I've done nothing to deserve it."

"Embry!"

"Take it back."

"Why? It's true."

"Jacob! Calm down!"

"At least Bella can stand to be around me!"

"You—"

"Outside! Everybody, outside! Now!"

"What about the girl?"

"I'll watch her."

"Thank you, Emily."

"I'll kill you!"

"Jared! Paul! Get him outside!"

As the shouting receded, I slipped further into unconsciousness.
