Chapter Twenty One
Arianna sat with some other girls throughput the whole Potions lesson and when they were dismissed she immediately departed the room worrying that Sirius and co. might catch up with her.
“Hey Riddle!” someone shouted from behind her, she knew it was just Sirius so she just made her way to the hallway and walked faster concentrating on heading to class
“Wait up new buddy!” shouted another of the Marauders who Arianna guessed was Potter she didn’t turn around for it would slow her down.
“Riddle! Riddle!” shouted Sirius “Are you deaf or something?! Wait up!”
“She isn’t Sirius, but we are because of all the shouting you’re doing.” Said Remus covering his ears as they ran towards Arianna, Sirius just rolled his eyes. Arianna turned a hard left to the next corridor trying to avoid them but she did not prevail, the Marauders easily caught up with her.
“Wait up,” said Sirius putting a hand on Arianna’s shoulder as they caught up with her. Arianna stopped and glared at his hand, she looked at the Marauders and they were all smirking. She grabbed Sirius’ hand by the tip of her fingers as if it were something full of germs
“Personal space Black,” she said as she gently put down Sirius’ hand “what did I say?”
James, Remus and Peter were holding back laughter at Sirius’ expression. Sirius glared at them and they recomposed themselves
“Right,” said Sirius straightening up “I reckon you we had a deal?”
Arianna raised her eyebrows
“You know,” said Sirius as if he was explaining something to a five year old “you helping my mate-”
Arianna rolled her eyes
“Number eight.” Said Sirius, Arianna just glared at him “As I was saying,” said Sirius continuing “you were supposed to help my mate James over here? Remember?”
“Yes, yes Black,” said Arianna dismissively”I do not have a memory of a goldfish like you. You do not need to remind me-“
“What does that supposed to mean?” asked Sirius indignantly, James and Peter too looked confused Arianna sighed exasperatedly at their cluelessness
“She meant her memory isn’t as short like a goldfish’s which is extremely short, their memory only lasts three seconds.” said Remus explaining, the other boys nodded in comprehension
“I do not have a memory of a goldfish!” cried Sirius, Arianna just shook her head
“Oh but you do Black,” said Arianna raising her hand to stop Sirius from retorting “I specifically remember I said I would ‘think about it’. I did not say any word of agreement that I would part take in your friend’s wonderful chase for the love of his life and be ‘friends’ with you and your posse.”
Peter just looked like he didn’t understand a single word, which was true. Sirius and James looked like they wanted to retort or something but they could not think of a good comeback. Remus on the other hand looked like and he did understand everything.
James opened his mouth to retort, “Oh yeah? But…” he stopped himself midsentence he couldn’t think of anything good, he then turned to Sirius “Back me up Padfoot.” He then pushed Sirius forward, Sirius opened his mouth and pointed at Arianna “I-“he then stopped because he really couldn’t think of anything, Arianna looked very smug “I- gah-I can’t think of anything to say!” said Sirius exasperatedly
