Thunder roared above us, lightning lighting up the sky along with it. The storm grew stronger with every passing minute, rain pounding on our windows and roofs. It felt as if the rain itself would make our shelter collapse. As if we weren't safe in a place that was meant to keep us safe. The oceans raged in the distance, surrounding our little island and flooding it with salty water. The trees fell, a majority of them, on top of our neighbors's houses.

Hiding in the storm shelter, we shook with fear. I could see Carla quivering in the corner intensely, with Julie trying to comfort her. How long has it been? We thought it would be over by now, the storm. We were wrong, oh so wrong.
