v. the attic

it was night, everyone was in their pajama's and mari started playing 'this is how we do it' through a bucket to project the sound 

"1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4" marley said before everyone started dancing together 

coach ben (since he obviously couldnt do anything along with them) but he still watched with a smile but travis and misty also watched

"running man! running man!" they cheered

"bart simpson, bart simpson!" 

"and javi!" mari said and javi stood in front of them and did a little dance, everyone following along 

they continued to sing along and dance together before the music slowly started to stop, everyone stopped dancing

"goddamn it" van said with as everyone panted 

"what happened?" shauna asked as van smacked the cassette player (i think??) 

"i dont know...has hitting something ever fixed it?" van asked while mari walked forward 

"may-maybe try blowing on it" mari suggested and van opened it up and blew on it but to no avail 

they all looked up at the creaking that was coming from the attic, lottie leaned more toward marley, worry on her face 

"uh, the fuck was that?" jackie asked with her arms crossed

while lottie looked around

"hey, you heard it, too?" lottie asks gently, her hand still interlocked with marley's 

"it was probably just a branch" taissa brushed off the sound, which no one believed 

"from inside on the floor?" mari asked, not believing taissa as taissa just sighed 

"what if its...him" mari suggested, nervously 

"what? the dead guy?" shauna asked, her face scrunching up in confusion 

"um, yeah" mari didn't fall back from her idea 

"you know what it probably was?" nat asked with her hands on her hips, looking down slightly 

"the dead guys missing fingers trying to find their way home" natalie finished which made everyone in the group jeer and roll the eyes 

"you really have to encourage them?" tai asked as natalie just giggled 

"you gotta admit, it didnt sound like it was on the roof" akilah spoke up, mari nodding her head in agreement 

"fine, then it was a rat, or a racoon or something...i dont know-" jackie was cut off buy lottie shushing her

marley looked at lottie as lottie pulled marley a little closer to her 

"oh my god" taissa whispered, throwing her head back 

"listen" lottie said which made everyone look up at the attic

"well i dont hear it now" mari said, throwing her arms down to her sides 

"alright! alright! you know what i think it was? i think the ghost decided it was time to get some sleep and we should probably do the same, yeah?" coach stated with a sigh and everyone agreed, starting to get to their "beds"
