The First Timers

Once did I think of the things;

Things that happened for the first time.

Wondering how it felt to me,

And how they changed my life.



Once did I regret waking up ever.

While still drowsy in bed, did I quiver?

Boy, oh boy! In that cold I did shiver!

Oh! Those midnight dreams I could savour,

And then fill them up in my own flavour.



Once was I strolling in the city park.

Where lovers were mushy; the shrubs were bushy,

Where toddlers swung; where the birds sang,

Where the melody of clarinets was played in unison.

Where mirth knew no limits;

And where all were crisp and tan.



Once did I absorb nature while,

The sun was blazing its way through summer,

The winds, hushing the cries, making them dimmer.

The leaves were swaying with hustle,

To a subtle hum and a sweet rustle.



Once did I ever love some one,

For whom I would spring the flowers in winter,

For whom I would mess with a humongous crater,

For whom I would walk all day to see that cherry smile,

Even though it were a ten thousand miles...
