I knew I'd let it change me,
but it changed me for the worst.
And I promised to remember,
but every memory of it hurts.
I bought a bigger suitcase
so I wouldn't leave that life behind,
but now I flinch at every trace
and bad dream of what I once called mine.Is it too late to let go of the things
that I became smaller just to know?
Threw so much of the old me away
for this.
Think I betrayed me
all for this.Buried my heart in boxes
and left no map of where to find it.
Never been good with options;
I choose the wrong one every time.
Stumbled down a one-way street.
Slept though a no-return flight.
Now I'm asking everyone I meet
if they think I'll be alright.Is it too late to let go of the things
that I became smaller just to know?
Pulled the plug on me and stopped the show.
Thought I wanted this, long ago.
Close my eyes.
Hate to reminisce.
Burn my heart out;
it's just a witness.
Threw so much of the old me away
for this.
Think I betrayed me
all for this.The longing before I knew what I know now.
The naive, the blue, it's all coming out.
If it comes back again, don't let it get me.
If I start to miss it, it'll shut me down.
The dreaming before I knew what I know now.
The hope, the blue, it was all pouring out.
If it comes back again, say you won't let it get me.
If I start to miss it, it'll shut me down.If I start to miss it, it'll shut me down.
If I start to miss it, have I let me down?Jumping from high expectations
against a solid ground of hope.
I'm still in evacuation;
I'm still learning to cope
when I start to miss it.'If I Start To Miss It' - 01/03/23
If I start to miss it, it'll shut me down.
