Guess who's back?

-.-.-

You sat on the bed while Mavis was practicing her speech to tell her dad that she wanted to travel the world with you, "Dad, you said that when I turned 118, I could go into the world like every other adult that gets to come and go from this hotel."

She turned around making a voice, "But, Mavey Wavey, it's not safe. Bleh bleh bleh."

You snickered at her impression of Dracula, "Dad, 30 years ago you promised. I remember," She started walking up the walls, "we were both eating mice, an you specifically said that you gave me your word."

She started to pace on the ceiling, "

You chuckled as you sewed some red embroidery on the black lace corset you were working on, "darling, don't you think that you should wait until after breakfast to worry about these things?"

"No, mom. You've met dad, hell, you're married to him, you know how he is." she dropped from the ceiling onto the space next to you.

"You're time will come my little bat, I swear of it. Maybe to test the waters I could take you to the Inferno? It mimics much of the human world, though it might be a little sinister for you." You hugged her, kissing the top of her head.

"You know your father only wants the best for you, he has a reason for doing this, I've seen horrible things that humans do to each other. I can't imagine what some of them will do if they know our kind exists." You sighed, petting her hair.

You knew Dracula was preparing his hotel and his guests for Mavis's birthday which was coming up soon. He wanted to keep his little girl safe, and you wanted the same. You knew that humans were changing, but you also knew that they could be ruthless and cruel. You didn't want that for her.

She started to practice again, once again walking on the ceiling, you could make out the shrunken head speaking to someone outside. You could only assume.

You heard a knock on the door as Dracula walked in, "Good morning, Mavey Wavey!"

You chuckled as your husband walked in, "Happy birthday, my little mouse!"

"Thank you dad. I know it's my birthday." Mavis rolled her eyes, using a sarcastic tone.

"Mavis," you gave her a look.

"Sorry mom." She looked away from her father.

"I have so much fun planned. But first, we go catch some scorpions together, just the two of us, yes, dead-ums?" He pinched her cheek.

Mavis moved to the floor, walking away, "Dad, please, let me speak. There's something we have to talk about."

"You want to go out into the world. You can." Your head snapped towards Dracula.

"Ha! I knew you were gonna say that. But, Dad, you gave me your word, and you know that I know that a Dracula's word is sacred. That our trust is the core of our..." Mavis had just registered his words, "Wait, what?"

"I said you can go." Dracula smiled as you stared at him, in complete confusion.

"You're just playing with me." Mavis crossed her arms.

"No, no, no, no. You're old enough to drive a hearse now, you're old enough to make your own choices." He reasoned with his daughter, "you can go."

"Holy rabies! Holy rabies!" Mavis jumped up, hugging her dad and heading to her closet, packing swiftly.

"Stop. Wait a second, Mavey. Where are you going?" Dracula asked his daughter as she flew out of the window with a suitcase.

"Oh, well, I'm going to paradise, and this is just some stuff that I thought I would need." She flew back towards the window.
