So Victoria Donovan is my OC, who is a re-imagining of the canon character Vicki Donovan. I always thought that Vicki Donovan had a lot of potential on the show, but her character was used as a plot device to show a human's transition into a vampire.
I also thought that Jeremy really cared about Vicki, but I hated the fact that she was meant to be 18 and he was only 14 at the time of the first episode (!!!). According to the TVD Fandom Wiki, Jeremy would've turned 15 the same month as the Halloween Party episode where Vicki was killed.
So, for the purposes of this fanfiction, both Jeremy and Victoria are in the same grade and are both 15 at the start of Season 1. I will try and write Jeremy's 16th birthday into the plot as I think it's an important thing that was ignored entirely in the show. Victoria's birthday is the 1st of April, April Fools' Day, because I feel like it's fitting lol.
Also, I believe Tyler is 16 at the beginning of Season 1. I know these characters are underage, but I will try to be as sensitive as I can when covering certain topics. Please make sure you read the trigger warnings and always make sure you're considering your own wellbeing before reading any of my fics! It shouldn't be anything outside of canon-typical, but still, be safe my lovelies!
Final note is that I have recast Victoria Donovan to Lily Collins. Lily Collins and Steven R McQueen are actually only a year apart in age, so it felt more appropriate for the character. I have nothing against Kayla Ewell, I think she's a great actress, but she was a little old for the character now that I've changed the age and there are just a lot more gifs etc of Lily for me to use.
