Claire was slouched at her desk waiting on her Literature class to start, exhausted from what little sleep she got. It took her all night to write the essay but she was glad with what she wrote and prayed that Elvis would at least give her a passing grade on it

She didn't sit up at all when he came strutting into the classroom when the bell rang, stone faced as he looked at his students. "Pass your essays up to the first person in your row."

He came around to the front desks of each row to gather up the essays, returning to his desk and setting down the mountain of papers. He then passed out two worksheets to the class so they had something to work on while he graded everyone's papers

"Use your textbook to find the answers on your worksheets. No talking or cheating or I'll fail you for the rest of the semester." Elvis projected and sat down in his chair

The only sound to be heard was thin pages being flipped and pencils making contact with their worksheets that laid perfectly flat on the small desks. Claire glanced up while she was working to see Elvis focused on reading an essay, his head down and twirling a pen in his right hand. How was one man perfect in so many ways even if all he was doing at the moment was sitting in a chair and absent mindedly moving a pen around in his fingers

"Alright, time's up. If you didn't finish then you can set those aside for now." Elvis stood up and walked around to the front of his desk

She was surprised that he read and graded everyone's papers in a half hour but then again, there were only ten students in his class

"It's fair to say that I was disappointed with most of the papers. It's evident that you weren't even trying and on a simple subject no less! I expect to see better results from now on."

It was six o' clock in the evening. Elvis and Claire had a nice dinner that Elvis had prepared for Claire since she deserved a break from cooking and because he wanted to show his appreciation. They were now snuggling together on the couch in Claire's living room watching The Princess Bride. Elvis moved a little closer to her while they both focused on watching the movie, resting his chin on her shoulder

"Why are you such a hard ass in the classroom?" She glanced at him for a quick second and took the chance to kiss the bridge of his nose

Elvis stared at the tv in deep thought, sitting there for a good twenty minutes before he finally looked to her. "During one of my internships, I had studied long and hard with a professor who was a mean old tough son of a bitch. I had the chance to teach his class a few times and every time I had finished teaching, he'd pull me aside. Told me I needed to get a backbone or the students will walk all over me, not take me seriously as a professor. He branded it into my mind that I needed to be merciless and push students to their limits no matter what."

Claire shifted on the couch at feeling an aching pain from her right hip. "Well....have you noticed how there's only ten students in your class?"

"Yes. I used to have at least a little over thirty students in my class at the lecture hall but the numbers slowly dropped and I got moved to a classroom..." He lightly scoffed at the reminder

"Elvis, you should be encouraging to your students. This might be hard to believe but making threats about their grades and how they aren't smart as they should be in the classroom isn't a good way to keep them or future students in your class."

"You're right. I don't want to have the university drop my class or fire me."

Claire cuddled up to him and held his hand. "If you ever need help just ask and I'll do what I can." She held back a yawn

"Tired?" Elvis raised a curious eyebrow at her

She hummed softly and squeezed his surprisingly soft hand in hers. "Maybe a little..."
