Chapter 2

'What is this?...'

Immersed in an abyss of darkness, the girl became aware of her surroundings, or rather the lack thereof.

'Where... am I?' echoed the girl's thoughts, a mixture of unease, confusion, and fear coursing through her.

No sight, no sensation, just an eerie void that engulfed her being. Suddenly, a voice echoed through the emptiness, seemingly originating from nowhere. She strained her senses, desperate to grasp any semblance of understanding. Immobile and devoid of control, she could only listen, her hearing faintly attuned. The voice spoke enigmatic and unfamiliar words, shrouded in mystery and obscurity.

The girl yearned to unravel the meaning behind those cryptic utterances, but before she could gather her thoughts and form a response, she was abruptly jolted awake, snapping back to reality. As her eyes fluttered open, she found herself laying in bed, staring at a white ceiling, bathed in the gentle glow of overhead lights.

As consciousness flooded back, the details of the encounter dissolved, leaving her with a hazy recollection. However, one fragment clung to her memory—a single word that resonated within her.

"Ama... tsu... ki." Uttering it weakly and filled with confusion, she wondered what significance it held in the depths of her forgotten dream.

"Hmm? Amatsuki?... is that your name, little lady?" A voice suddenly sounded beside the girl, and as she turned my head, she found herself face to face with a woman who appeared out of nowhere. A kind smile graced her features, accompanied by a sense of relief. The woman had short, tousled silver hair, with strands falling on the right side of her face, styled into two thin braids that reached her shoulders. 

The girl remained frozen in place, her gaze fixed on the woman, unsure of how to react or what to do next. 

"Um, I'll take that as a yes then!" she exclaimed cheerfully. "My name is Kotetsu Isane. Nice to meet you, Amatsuki-chan," she added, her smile radiating warmth and sincerity.

Touched by Isane's sweet and kind gesture, the girl, who had inadvertently named herself Amatsuki by speaking it aloud, experienced a profound sense of relief. Her expression softened as she responded, "Nice...to meet you...too, Isane," extending her gratitude and reciprocating the greeting.

Isane's heart swelled with happiness, and she channeled that overwhelming emotion into a tender gesture. She reached out her hand and gently pat the girl's head, providing a comforting sense of security and assuring her that she was now in a safe place. The girl closed her eyes, allowing herself to be enveloped by the gentle and soothing touch, which brought a faint smile to her face. Deep within her heart, a resolute determination took root as she made a solemn vow to herself. Regardless of the challenges that lay ahead, she was wholeheartedly committed to finding a way to express her gratitude and repay those who had rescued her from the harrowing ordeal she had gone through.

Isane stood at the porch, her eyes fixed on the girl in a white Japanese traditional clothing, wrapped in bandages, standing amidst the serene garden. With a voice filled with shock and disbelief escaped Isane's lips, "This is incredible..." she exclaimed.

Sitting beside her, a woman dressed in a white coat shared Isane's  gaze on the young girl who appeared completely engrossed in her surroundings. "Yeah, it's only been a few days and she has already made such remarkable progress. Perhaps in a few more, she'll be fully recovered," the woman remarked. "Moreover, her Reiatsu restoration is extraordinary. While I was healing her, her Reiatsu seamlessly synchronized with mine, accepting it and even forcefully drawing out my Reiatsu and absorbing it to aid in her recovery. Even though she was unconscious...it's as if her Reiatsu possesses its own consciousness... it's truly perplexing," she added, her tone filled with intrigue.
