Masaru didn't know what to think as he stared at the words written in the parchment that he gripped with his hands wanting to burn them into ashes. He didn't know who to be furious on. Whether he should be furious at the King for passing such a decree without thought or judgement or whether to hate the Omega that requested it to be passed or whether to hate the Royal court for supporting such a decree. He growled as he crumpled the parchment in his hands and walked upstairs leaving a stunned Mitsuki near the main hall. She blinked at nothing as she tried to register what she had read. She had assumed that Hizashi was requesting a presence from their family or that he was coming to Ruby with Izuku but the contents of the parchment were the opposite of his imagination. The words rang in her head with the voice of Hizashi reading them.

"Dear Masaru,
I have had a long conversation with my son regarding all that has happened in the past few years. I had come to this realisation before but I pushed it away for the sake of my dear son's happiness. But I have realised that I was blind to my son's sufferings. I have consulted Izuku on this and I have already had word with the Duke about this. I have requested for a divorce. I do not want my son to suffer anymore. From the moment they were engaged, my son's life has only been in danger whether from external forces or from his loved ones. I am an old man, I cannot live with the worry that I might not see my son alive a week from now. I wish for him to be happy and be with someone who is capable enough to guard his life. Your son, Katsuki-kun has failed to prove that countless times and I cannot be patient anymore. The King has granted my request for divorce upon hearing the situation and I request that you do not further extend our suffering. Izuku has been distraught about this but he agrees that he cannot trust Katsuki with his life anymore. An Omega should never lose trust in their mate, even you know that. I request that you accept his decision and do not further try and persuade my son because he had to suffer alot to take such a difficult decision. I do not wish him in further pain.
Yours
Hizashi"

Mitsuki blinked as she hadn't even realised that she had been crying. Her cheeks damp with her tears and her vision blurry from the unshed ones. She loved the greenette with all her heart like her own son, she couldn't wrap her head around how he took such a stone cold decision. The Omega with the warmest of smiles and kindest of heart that would forgive a demon for killing him, took such a cruel decision within a few months. She took a shaky breathe as she stared at the Royal decree that she had been holding. She checked again to make herself realise that it was a Royal decree and not some facade that would disappear. She prayed that it would be a nightmare but she never woke up from it. She shakily walked upstairs wanting her Alpha close as she heard distant howls, she knew who those belonged to. She didn't even want to think about what her son's heart must be feeling. Her own heart was shattered on the ground and her chest tight as she felt like air wasn't going into her lungs.

Mitsuki walked up to the chambers she dreaded to enter. She didn't even have to enter, she could hear the heart breaking cries and howls of her son as her mate tried to comfort him. She slowly stepped into the room closing the door. Katsuki was on the floor howling and sobbing as he clutched the letter Hizashi had sent. He looked so broken and scattered. Long were the days that Mitsuki saw her son actually smile and be happy. Now a days, all he did and look like was more of a dead man. He barely smiled or interacted with many. He just stayed in his study burying himself in paper work as he tried to keep his mind off of his mate. She could only imagine what her son's state would be now after losing his wife and mate.
