Hunger

Hunger.
Most think of food.
The need to eat.
But I know people who hunger
for a food-less
meal.
They hunger for the
double-zero waistline.
They hunger for the
self control.
They hunger for the
perfect body image
that is simply
impossible.

But I know people who hunger
for a small metal object
for the making
of red lines
across
white skin.
They hunger for
the pain to stop.
They hunger for
the pain to start.
They hunger for
something..
anything...
to tell them they are alive.

But I know people who hunger
for understanding.
Seeing others with
eating disorders
and
self harm addictions.
They hunger for
ways to help.
They hunger for
knowledge
of these mental
diseases
that they could
never truly
understand.
