we were now running through the woods, when dustin and everyone ahead stopped "dustin? can you slow down? dustin?" i heard eddie yell, "i think we're getting close" dustin said, almost walking into a river, "watch your step big guy" eddie stopped him

"ohhh man, you gotta be shitting me" steve mumbled, "yeah- i thought those woods were familiar" eddie sighed, "lovers lake" robin mumbled, "this is confounding" dustin said

"theres a gate in lovers lake?" max asked, "whenever the demogorgon attacked it always left an opening.. maybe vecnas the same way" nancy said, "yeah only one way to find out" steve said

eddie took off the tarp to the small boat, steve and eddie placing it down into the lake, "easy! i- i said easy man" steve said annoyed, "sorry dude" eddie mumbled

robin was the first to get on to the boat, then eddie, then nancy, then me, sitting down next to robin

"hey hey, you trying to sink us? this thing holds 4 people tops okay?" eddie said stopping my brother from getting on, "its better this way okay? you guys stay out safe- keep an eye out for trouble" nancy suggested, "you keep an wye out!" dustin complained, "dustin- just stick together, be safe, i love you" i said to him just in case, "its my goddamn theory!" dustin complained still, "you heard mel" robin said, "who put her in charge!" dustin complained, "i did" robin said

"compass?" i said reaching my hand out, dustin poutted but gave me it anyways, "i love you" i said again, "love you" he mumbled still annoyed, i sat back down next to robin, steve tossed dustin the bag, getting onto the boat

"you said four!" dustin yelled, steve whispering sorry "bedtime at nine kiddos! miss you already" robin yelled, getting dustin sticking up his middle finger in response

"woah.. woah woah woah woah slow down! slown down guys" nancy told robin and eddie as they stopped, "guys whats going on? come on talk to me" dustin said through the walkie, "uh dustin.. your compass has gone from wonky to wonky with a capital 'ahh" robin answered

steve started taking of his shoes and socks, "steve what are you doing?" me and nancy asked unison, "somebodys gotta go down and check this thing out, unless one of you guys not including mel can top being hawkins high swim co-captain, and a certified lifeguard for three years, then.. its gotta be me? no complaints all right?" steve said standing up

"hey- why other than me- you know im amazing at swimming" i complained, "you need a break" he said, i just sighed and leaned back, "hey, im not complaining, i do notttt wanna go down there" eddie said grabbing a flashlight for steve as steve took off his shirt, nancy dead staring at him, "nances so into steve" robin whispered to me, "eddies so into steve" i whispered back, robin just turned to me, gave a confused look, and turned to eddie "hey, goodluck" eddie said handing him the flashlight, you could tell eddie was trying not look at his chest, well at least i could, "thanks" steve said, i noticed there hands touching accidentally whenever steve grabbed it from him

robin turned back to me, "holy shit you are so right" she whispered but everyone heard, "right about what" eddie asked, "nothing" me and robin both said unison

eddie grabbed a joint, "not the time eddie" i whispered, as he sadly put it away

right before steve was about to jump- "steve?" nancy called, steve turning to her confused, "be careful" she whispered to him, steve diving in,

"who do you think steves into?" robin asked whispering into my ears super quietly so nobody else could hear "i hope eddie but no clue" i whispered back,

"whattcha guys whispering about?" eddie asked curiously "person- personal stuff" i quietly replied
