As I gazed at the blank walls, memories flooded my mind, making the house feel strange and unfamiliar, as if those memories were being packed away in the bags I carried. The weight of nostalgia and bittersweet emotions hung in the air as I prepared to leave my childhood bedroom behind.

Just as I was lost in my thoughts, my aunt's voice broke the silence, calling me urgently, "[Name], dear, we need to go. We can't afford to miss our flight." I took one last look around the room, absorbing every detail before reluctantly turning away.

Exiting the room with my belongings in tow, I noticed my aunt patiently waiting for me at the door. I mustered a faint smile, trying to mask the mix of sadness and excitement that engulfed me. As I walked, I couldn't help but limp slightly, a lingering reminder of my recent injury.

Observing my struggle, my aunt whispered gently, "Don't force yourself. We could arrange for a wheelchair, you know." I shook my head, determined to overcome the discomfort, and handed her my bag, silently conveying my gratitude for her concern.

Leaving the house, we found a taxi waiting for us, its engine humming softly. "Hi, Sherry. Hello, Dre," my aunt cheerfully greeted the person inside the taxi. Dre simply nodded in response, his reserved nature evident. "Hi, Adeline. Hello, [Name]," Sherry replied with a warm smile as I climbed into the taxi.

Taking the front seat, my aunt couldn't contain her excitement, her giggles filling the air. "I'm so thrilled to start our new life in China," Sherry exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

"Good for you, Aunt," Dre murmured under his breath, his voice tinged with a hint of melancholy. Sensing the brewing tension, I nudged him gently, cautioning, "Don't start, Dre. It's a big day for them." He leaned back, finding solace in my presence.

"I already miss them," Dre muttered sleepily, his voice laden with nostalgia. "And how's your leg?" I sighed softly, shifting my gaze to the passing scenery outside the taxi window. "Well, my leg is healing nicely, and it will recover completely soon," I replied, trying to sound optimistic. Deep down, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness at the thought of leaving behind familiar faces and places.

As the taxi pulled away from the house, carrying us toward the unknown adventure that awaited us in China, I couldn't help but reflect on the memories we were leaving behind.
