THIRTEEN

“Jim!” I fling my arms around his neck. When he doesn’t respond my hug, I push away. “Why do you

look like murdering someone?” Only now I get to see how much angry he really looks. I’ve never

seen him that much out of control. Real scary that night.

“YOU!” he shouts at me. “You should have told me!” Oh, I think I know where he’s heading.

“Jim, listen...”

“NO! You’re my best friend, or so I thought. How could you’ve kept that from me?” He screams at

me, now gripping both my hands.

“Ouch! You’re hurting me! And I’m sorry, I wanted to tell you, but I promised Jaden not...”

“JIM! Leave my sister!” Well, at least now our whole neighbourhood is awake. “You’re hurting her,

let her go.” Jaden continues, only slightly quieter. But he talks to deaf ears. Jim’s head is tomato

red and I’m afraid that his head might explode if he doesn’t clam down.

“Boys, please let us go in, your screaming your heads of won’t make it any better when you wake up

every soul nearby.” Someone of us has to be reasonable. Slowly, Jim releases my hands and I

start rubbing some blood back into them. They still stand there, ready to attack every second.

“Guys, just go inside and we’ll discuss it all, okay?” Hell, now they’re being extremely immature.

Even more when Jim says:

“You first.”, like Jaden would knock him out from behind. Not wanting to provoke him anymore, he

obeys and goes straight to the livingroom. Closing the door behind me, I follow them. When

someone taps on my shoulder form behind me, I squeal at first, but then I see it’s Melanie.

“Uhm, hi Marivi.” She greets me

“Hi Mel. Sorry you had to listen to all that crap between the boys. How did Jim find out anyway?”

“He found the test. And that ticked him off. Jaden is really luck to have you as his sister. You know

he loves you more than me?” I’ve never heard her talk that much. I mean, we’ve never been much of

friends either, but we’ve always been on good terms. Just not doing much together. The last part

makes me smile widely, even forgetting the boy’s fight.

“I know he loves me, but in a completely different way than you. You can’t compare it. When he first

told me bout your baby, you should have seen him. And I’m sure he would put you over me if he had

to.” I blurt out to her. And I don’t say that just to make her feel better, it is what I truly believe. Just

then we get reminded about our brothers.

“How dare you! You’re completely destroying my sisters live! You jerk should know better than that!

Ever heard about birthcontrol?” I just shake my head at that, even smiling a little. Jim’s very

protective of his sister and now is the time he has to learn that he can’t safe her from everything.

“I better go calm the cocks down.”
