So basically
The DU provides the explanation for the pure black eyes as being "their pupils expanded so much that it takes up their entire eyes"
But I have several problems with this
Because if you don't know, there are actual muscles that expand and contract the pupils: Those muscles would break and permanently destroy your eyes if they expanded that far. This is the reason why your pupils only expand so far.
Plus, the amount of light your eyes would take in would render you completely blind and probably give you a huge headache 24/7 because your pupils dilating causes your eyes to take in more light. That's why whenever it's really dark, your pupils dilate.
So like
If you're gonna say "it's just a fictional story" ok sure go off ig but fanfics are fictional stories too so um
