Poem 5: The Oblivious

113 8 1

'Save me!' 'Help me!' You hear her cries;
But no one opens their eyes,
Leading her to her demise.
She conceals her emotions,
Not a word she speaks.

Yet there you are,
Stroking her red cheeks.

You tell her you care,
You'll say she's not alone,

Yet all it takes is an 'I'm fine',
And she'll be on her own.
"She's probably had a bad day"
You dismiss 'She'll be fine'
But you should have checked on her,
For that was the last time.

The Oblivious kills, my friend.
And soon you'll see,
Because your friend is underground now
Where she sleeps.
