Y/n's POV.

I felt my heart tighten. I didn't know why the question bothered me much. I didn't have a tough childhood or anything, did I? I didn't know why I felt so uneasy. I could easily tell him about my many play dates with Kosho. my little adventures with him, and the animals we found in the royal gardens. From birds, caterpillars, ladybugs, and even cats!

"Oh- I was determined... hardworking..." I began. His face contorted, and he let out a faint snort. It made me hesitate for a moment in confusion.

"Y/n... tell me, who are you?" He whispered, moving closer to me. I felt my breath hitch under his voice. It was almost as if my airways had been restricted.

"Howl..." I sighed. He cupped my cheek and looked into my eyes deeply. His ocean-blue eyes reminded me of a little child's. He seemed so innocent- yet so hurt. I could tell he might've taken the betrayal harsher than he initially led on. It made me feel bad. Horrible. Yet, I was frozen. I didn't know what to say or do. I couldn't just spill everything to him. My parents... my life...

"Tell me every little detail. I want to know everything about you, Y/n," he whispered in my ear. His breath sent shivers down my spine- I could feel it all the way down to my feet. The hairs on my neck stood straight on end. My lips were slightly parted, ready to spill everything. I knew very well that Howl could easily make me tell him whatever he wanted me to. He wasn't just any sorcerer after all. Yet, he didn't force me.

"Well, um, my parents abandoned me..." I couldn't help my trembling voice. It wasn't as if I had a significantly strong connection to them. I barely knew them. Although it would've been nice to meet them, I was still afraid of doing so. I was nowhere near the right mindset to look any further for them.

"May I ask why? Financial issues?" His voice was laced with maturity and a certain sense of delicacy. I felt more comfortable in that way. He... made me feel at home. Not just in the castle- no- with him. It felt right.

"My parents had me when they were far too young and didn't have enough materials to support a child. Especially a witch. So, they sent me off to Madam Suliman," I continued. He gave me a sad, but supportive smile. I was about to continue, before Howl opened his arms in a calm manner, slowly moving closer to me.

"What are you doing?" He stayed silent until he put his arms around me at last. It felt like hugging a pillow. He was soft and gentle.
