Maya's POV
I was almost asleep on the couch next to Sophie's bed when I heard her
"Hey" I smiled as she opened her eyes and I kissed her forehead "how are you feeling?" I asked
"Have a headache" she said "How's Matt?" she asked
"He's at home, he is alright. He'll be back in the morning to see you" I said and she nodded
"did they get him?" she asked and I looked at her
"who honey?" I asked
"the driver" she said "the one who bumped into us" she said
She had no clue it had been Lane the one who bumped into them
"they're on it" I said and she nodded
"the? how's Matt's car?" she asked and I smiled
"not something to be worried about" I said
Carina's POV
I woke up and slightly opened Matt's door to find him sound asleep, walked downstairs and rushed over to the hospital.
"Morning" I said as I found Amelia at the entrance
"hey" she said "Sophie's doing great" she said and I sighted in relief since I've had no messages from Maya "first patient to discharge" she said "see you up there" she said
I made my way over to her room to find Maya soundly asleep on the armed chair resting her head on her fist
"morning bella" I said kissing her head as she instantly woke up
"morning" she whispered as she rubbed her eyes "how's everything doing at home?" I asked
"moods aren't the best ones" I said and she nodded
"yeah to be expected" she said "Is Amelia..?" she began
"on her way to discharge her" I said and instantly Sophie's eyes shot open "morning there" I smiled down at her kissing her cheek "how are you feeling?" I asked
"wanting to go home" she said and I chuckled "I don't even know why I was admitted" she sighted
"that's always a good sign" I said and she smiled back "and it's a precaution"
"yeah, precaution when your mom works at the hospital" she said and Maya laughed and I playfully hit her arm
"sorry she's right" she said and I laughed
Maya's POV
"so you're just being discharged and your biggest worry is what tone makeup you should buy?" I laughed
"it's actually a good point tho" said Carina
"really?" I chuchled
"I've got to hide this scar somehow" she said "it's not exactly a cute one"
"jesus" I laughed and saw my phone lightning with Andy's name on it "excuse me" I said as I took the call and walked outside
"so?" I asked
"so PD said the last picture of Lane was at a gas station 100 km away" she said "they've lost track of him now"
"so he's gone ghost" I said
"sorry Maya" she said
"no no, I mean, I rather know he's far away" I said
"how did Sophie woke up?" she asked
"she's doing great" I said "ready to be discharged"
"that's great" said Andy "thanks god everythieng went as smoothly as possible"
As we were talking the station alarm went on and she hanged the phone
As I walked into the room, Carina looked at me with a concerned look and I made her an "I'll tell you later sign" and she nodded
Sophie's POV
Everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong. I was planning on telling my moms about Noah after school. And instead? I was lying on a hospital bed
"hello there" I heard Amelia walking through the door
"morning" I said not in the best tone
"uh morning mood" she smiled and I chuckled not wanting to be mad at her "ready to be discharged" she said signing the papers "you're free to go home, homerest clear?" she said and I nodded "I mean it" she said "no parties, you're basically in homarrest"
As we drove home I could sense something going on, mom seemed to be worried, or mad, or both.
I got out of the car and unlocked the front door to find the house incredibly quiet, seemed like no one was there.
"Where's Matt?" I asked as Mama came walking after me
"he should be upstairs" she said as she turned to mom
"why?" she asked confused as she finished closing the door
"cause his keys are always here, on the countertop" I said noticing his keys were gone. As I sat down on the couch I could see how everything tensed up even more
"what's going on?" I asked as I picked up the look from my phone
"what do you mean?" asked mama trying to play it easy
"I'm not dumb, Matt's gone, you two are either mad at eachother, or at the world" i said and Mom grabbed her keys and Mama sat down next to me
Maya's POV
He couldn't be this stupid, he just couldn't be this stupid damn.
I jumped on my car and drove as fast as I could striaght to the station to find everyone in the kitchen
"hey" said Andy confused as she looked at me
"where is he?" I asked as I caught my breath
"what do you mean?" asked Jack confused
"Matt, he, he's gone" I said "he's not here?"
"he was here some minutes ago, he jogged over here" said Andy and before I could say anything she said "I did lecture him about jogging, he didn't listen to me" she said
"he left?" I asked
"yeah, back home" said Jack
"he didn't" I said hopping back into my car
Carina's POV
"Lane was the one who crashed us?" she asked looking at me with watery eyes
"yes" I said as I hugged her tightly "it's okay, he is far away now" I said kissing his head
"that's not true" she said pulling away looking at me "that's why Matt is gone isn't he?" she said
"I hope not" I said as my voice cracked "I hope not" I repeated
"what if he finds him?" she asked "what if Lane finds him, he tried to kill us in a car accident, what if he finds Matt now?" she said tears spreading down her cheeks
I had no words, specially since I knew it could be true, it could be happening. After some minutes Sophie fell asleep with her head on my lap as I stroked her hair and texted everyone I could imagine.
God I missed Andrea, he'd be the only one to make Matt fall into reason, he was always the one who managed to calm him down. Specially since he had been his male role ever since Matt was born and now, he was gone. Which distroyed Matt as much as me.
Soph was right, totally right and Maya knew it.
