Remember when I said that the Gophers are having a bad luck streak? Well, I was wrong. We lost the last challenge. Sadie was sent home, which is fine, I guess. She really missed Katie. Katie even surprised her at the Dock of Shame. It was actually kind of cute. I don't think losing Sadie was a huge loss for us, but losing any teammate is always hard... Except when we lost Ezekiel, he can choke. I just hope this next challenge will work in our favor.

"Hey, Mal!" Courtney greets me.

"Hi, Court! What's up?"

"I wanted to talk to you before the next challenge starts."

"Oh, what about?" I ask.

"You and Duncan, of course," she replies.

"What about me and Duncan?" I ask. I start to feel nervous.

If it were anyone else, I wouldn't mind much talking about Duncan, but Courtney? Though we've grown close in the past few weeks, I don't want her to use this against me.

"I see the way you look at him. And even though I don't see what you see in that thug, I support you 100%."

Wait a minute, is Courtney actually being nice? I'd expect her to throw a fit considering she absolutely despises Duncan.

"Duncan and I are not dating, but after this is all over... Who knows what the future holds," I admit.

"Well, you've got my support!"

"But why?" I ask. "I thought you hated him!"

"Oh, I do. I think he's a complete Neanderthal," she replies. "But you're my friend, and I don't want you to think that you have to keep this a secret from me."

"Wow, that's actually really nice of you, Courtney."

"I don't get it though. Why aren't you two dating already?" She asks.

"Because I don't want to. At least, not just yet. I don't want this competition getting in the way of our relationship. I think our love life should be separate from Total Drama, and if there's a chance I win, or even him, I don't want it to become between us... But I'm still going to kick his a$$ when teams dissolve."

"So are you like, in love with Duncan now?" She asks.

"No way! I mean, I like the guy, but we still have lots to talk about."

"Well, if you ever decide that you actually hate him and need someone to vent to, I'm your girl!"

...

"Yo, California."

"Yo, Duncan," I mock as he approaches me.

"You and me, we need to talk," he says in a more serious tone.

"Talk. Challenge hasn't started yet, I'm all ears."

"It's just that, sometimes I get the feeling that you're into me. Ya know, you get me out of trouble, we kissed, then other times you don't give me the time of day."

"I can say the same about you," I say with shrug.

"I'm not good at this relationship stuff."

"I get that, but Duncan, I like you... but I also want to win. I think if we're going to make anything official, it should be at the end of this competition."

"For real?" he asks.

"Yes. Think about it, when teams dissolve, it's every man for himself, and we also have Heather. If word gets around we're official, not only will she use that to her advantage, she'll also try to break us up for sure, just for fun."
