I blinked a couple times after waking up on a hospital bed.
The heart rate beeping was all I could hear.
"Laura?" I croaked.
She was laying on a bed across the room, but with doctors surrounding her.
I wanted to see what was going on.
I tried to get up, but the neck cast made me groan of pain.
I clicked the emergency button on the side of my bed.
Doctors rush towards me and I sighed.
"What about Laura?" I croaked.
The doctors looked at eachother and whispered to eachother.
I cleared my throat.
They looked at me and one doctor stepped up.
"I'm afraid Laura is in a serious condition...."
"What do you mean?! Is she okay." I raised my voice.
They stepped back and walked away.
I pressed the button again.
The doctors walked back to me.
"What kind of serious condition?" I said.
They sighed and gave me a paper.
"Um, What's this?!"
"Just read it."
They walked away again.
I read the paper.
"Laura's medical conditions" The cover stated.
"Glass in her heart, Trouble breathing, Snapped neck-" I stopped reading.
"No, No, No!" I sobbed.
I pulled on the wires and took all the stuff that was on me. I took off the cast.
Everything went quiet and it seemed slow motion.
Doctors raced towards me and I breathed slower and slower until everything went white.
------
"1,2,3 CLEAR!"
I jumped.
I didn't want to wake up. I didn't want to live in a nightmare.
"Are you okay ma'am?"
"Do you feel alright?"
"On a scale of 1-10 how much do you rate your pain?"
The doctors asked me all kinds of questions while looking at my eyes, Ears, My heart rate, and my breathing.
"I'm fine." I stated.
"Ma'am we need you to listen to us and please don't panic."
I was confused. I didn't understand what they were trying to say.
"Laura is dead."
Tears flooded my eyes. My breathing just became worse. Why couldn't I just die and be in a better place.
Why live in a nightmare?!
