Lily's POV~

The next morning I woke up feeling as if my mind had been waging a war against itself all night long, which in fact it had been. I got little to no sleep and the sleep I was able to grasp was restless as my body turned from one side to the other.

I wanted to trust Sev but then again I wanted to believe Rita and Ebony as well. They would never want to hurt me so much that they would make up a huge lie about Sev.

But Sev promised me last night that there would be no more secrets between us...

I sigh loudly into my pillow before I realize that the others can probably hear me, so I inwardly curse myself and hold my breath.

When a few minutes have passed, I slyly peek out behind my bed curtain to find all the other beds made and the room completely empty. A quick look at the clock and my heart starts beating out of my chest.

Classes start in five minutes!

"Those rotten gits! They didn't wake me! Oh if I was speaking to them right now I would ignore them!" I yell as loudly as I can because its not like anyone is around to hear my threats.

"Lily? Is that you?" I hear someone yell from down the stairs, actually they must have screamed it for me to hear.

I quickly get dressed and throw my hair up in a messy ponytail before rushing down the stairs looking like a maniac.

"James?" I say surprised when I see him at the foot of the stairs.

"Hey...I thought Id heard you up there."

"What are you still doing here? Classes start any minute now!"

"I could ask you the same thing, but to answer your question I forgot to grab extra parchment and Rem didn't have any extra for me to borrow." He says whilst holding up the sad looking crumbled up parchment.

He looks at me...waiting for me to answer his unasked question.

"My horrible room mates didn't think it would be prudent to wake me up before they left me to sleep past class."

He fumbles in his robes pockets before pulling out a protein bar. I look at it strangely for a moment before taking it.

"Rem's parents pack millions of those in his trunk each year and he can't stand them. I don't think they are half bad but that's just my opinion."

"Thank you James."

He smiles his devilish smile before thinking better of it and wiping it from his face.

"What?" I ask as nice as I can manage because Im curious as to why he smiled...so I might get him to do it again.

"It's just you called me James instead of Potter, it sounds kind of nice coming from you."

"Well...it is pretty juvenile to call each other by our last names. Don't you think, James?" I ask while smiling at him. He returns my smile which only makes me smile bigger.

I bite my lip nervously before I remember class. I feel my eyes bug out as I say quickly,"Class!"

I grab James' sleeve instinctively and pull him along as I drag us out of the common room and towards the Dungeons.

"Wow Ev...Lily you can run...really fast." James puffs behind me.

"Oh Slughorn is going to hate me..." I mumble more to myself than to James.

I rush towards the Potions room and break through the swinging doors.

Every pair of eyes turns around to see James and I huffing out of breath. Then I realize that my hand is still holding onto James' sleeve, and I let my fingers relax so his sleeve falls out of my grasp.

"Ms. Evans, this is quite surprising and Mr. Potter late for my class again." Slughorn says from the front of the room the chalk still in his hand.

James goes to say something but I speak faster," I'm sorry Professor. It's completely my fault. I was running late to class and James was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time, because I ran right into him and made him drop all of his items. He would have been on time if it weren't for my clumsiness."

"Is that so?" He asks sounding dubious.

"Yes Professor," James and I say together.

"Well then...I guess I can let you off with a warning for both of you this time, but try to awake earlier Ms. Evans so we can prevent this from happening again."

"I'll try, Professor."

James and I take the only seats left at a back table before I start to copy the notes on the chalkboard.

Later when we are about to start making a potion I get up to grab supplies and when I return I find a tiny lily on my barstool. But when I look up to thank James he finds something in the book incredibly interesting, and he won't meet my eyes.

So I take the tiny lily and craft a small box around it before placing it in my bag.

James and Lily were oblivious to two pairs of angry eyes that were watching this encounter from two separate tables. One pair belonged to a greasy haired boy and the other pair belonged to a young quiet boy who didn't want to be angry with his friend but couldn't stop the flames of jealously from raging inside him.

A/N: So there we have it. James and Lily just had their first moment without screaming at the other. But then again not everyone is happy for them now are they?

I hope you all enjoyed it and I'm sorry for it being so short but this felt like the perfect place to stop it.

Let me know what ya'll think!
