The next dayyy
There's a knock at the door.
Its lexi h.
Lr: hey, you're here!
Lh: yup. We're going out for lunch?
Lr: yeah, we're doing the squad thing.
Lh: ah.
She walked inside.
Lh: Who else are we waiting on?
Lr: Andrew and Jeremy. Brent is changing upstairs and he'll be down in a sec. I think-
Theres another knock at the door.
I opened it.
A: What up shawty?
Lr: I will close this door in your face.
A: Do it.
I started closing it.
J: aye chill chill chill.
I opened it again.
J: Let me guess, we're the last ones here?
They walked inside.
Lr: technically.
J: Technically?
Lr: Yeah, brent is changing upstairs but he should be down in a bit.
Just then, as if they had called him, Brent came down the stairs.
Lr: What the-
Brent wore a blue collared shirt with black pants. A belt to top it all off. His hair was done too.
Lr: Is that what took so long?
Br: What do you mean? I'm just dressed casual.
Alx: Ooh, do you have a date??
Br: No...
Alx: You do!
Br: No, I actually don't. Seriously. I just decided to get ready today.
B: It doesnt matter. Im hungry. Who's picking from the hat today?
A: Well-
Br: Can I do it? I havent done it in a while.
Lr: Sure I guess.
Alan was holding the hat and handed it to brent.
Brent had this weird satisfied smirk on his face.
Br: hmmm.. Lets see....
B: Pick chipotle!
A: Noooo pick Chick fl la!!
Lh: I want sushi.
J: Gross.
Br: I got....
He took a second to unfold the paper, then read it. Afterwards he quickly dropped it back in the hat, which is odd because usually the picker shows everyone the paper.
Br: McDonald's! Wow, that's so crazy.
Lr: You're kidding.
Br: Nope. Lets go.
B: We just went last time. Repick maybe?
Br: Sorry bro. Rules are rules. Lets get in the car.
Aln: Let's switch it up. I'm with lexi h- I want sushi.
Lh: yes, lets go.
Br: Like I said- rules are rules.
J: Whatever. I just want food.
He followed brent outside to his car.
We all shrugged and followed, unhappy with this decision.
After arriving.
J: Okay, I'm gonna play Alan. Ben you play-
Br: Actually I'll just go get our food. Gimme the orders.
Lexi h and I exchanged glances. Something fishy is going on.
Alx: Okay, I want...
After receiving our orders
Br: Cool, I'll be back in 20.
He got out of the car and hurried in.
I unstrapped my seatbelt and opened the door.
Aln: Where are you going?
Lr: Inside. I wanna see what Brent has been hiding.
Lh: Ooh I'm coming!
She unbuckled and climbed out, following me.
Lh: you boys sit tight. We'll be back soon.
Brent's face lit up as soon as we went inside. There are 2 cashier lines; a long one and a short one. Brent got in the long one for some reason.
Eventually, the line moved up and Brent was next. The cashier is this really pretty brunette girl. I think we found brent's target.
Brent Rivera POV
Br: hey Pierson!
She smiled.
P: Hey Brent! What goes on?
Br: Nothing much. I got another big order today.
P: Dang. You do this every other day?
Br: Just about.
P: And they always make you come in and order?
Br: Well they don't make me, I volunteer.
P: And why is that?
Br: Because there's not much to see in the car.
P: And theres more in here?
Br: A lot of prettier things in here.
P: Like the decor?
Br: Thr decorations, the floor tiles, the cashier.
Pierson laughed.
P: Me or her? She's still in high school.
She pointed to the other cashier.
Br: I mean you.
P: I'm flattered.
Br: You should be.
Pierson laughed again.
P: You know, here is the only place Ive ever seen you- not counting the texts.
I thought about the texts we sent each other last night. Just a normal conversation. Still nice though.
Br: Where else would you like to see me?
P: How about the movies, tomorrow night at 7?
Br: I'll be there.
What. The. Heck. SHE JUST ASKED ME OUT!!
P: I would hope so, or else it would be really embarrassing for me.
I laughed.
Br: Okay, I'll see you.
I started to walk away.
P: Wait-- Brent!
I turned back around.
Br: Yeah, Pierson?
She started laughing.
P: You forgot to order.
Br: Oh shoot-
She laughed some more.
The people behind me glared at me. I'm holding up the line. I couldn't care less.
P: Its almost as if the whole reason you came was to see me.
She was joking, but she wasn't wrong. We were supposed to get KFC, but I never showed the squad the paper I actually picked.
Br: You'll never know.
After ordering, then waiting 20 minutes.
She called me over.
I took the bag.
Br: Thank you. See you tomorrow.
I grinned.
She giggled.
P: For lunch or for our date?
Br: both.
She smiled. I noticed how cute her dimples are; they only made her more attractive- if that's possible.
I waved, walking backwards towards the door. I ran into it. Pierson laughed.
Nice going Brent. Now THATS attractive to her.
I shook it off and left the building. The smile won't leave my face.
Lexi R POV
Lexi h and I hurried back to the car when brent was paying. We couldn't hear anything they were saying, but brent was flirting with that employee!! Maybe that's why he keeps wanting to come to McDonald's. I guess he got lucky today when he picked out of the hat.
Brent got back in the car, grinning from ear to ear.
A: Woah, what happened in there? You're very smiley.
Brent didn't answer.
Lr: He's too busy daydreaming about that girl in there.
Br: Huh what?
B: Woahhh is she cute?
Br: Who?
B: That girl in there?
Br: How do you- Who- What?
A: Lemme see her.
Aln: No way. I'm the better twin. If she attracts Brent, she must be attractive. Brent is only attracted to girls that are 10/10. I figured that out during the Eva stage.
Br: What- What are you guys talking about?
J: That girl you were talking to in there. Is she single?
Br: What-? I don't- How do you know about her?
Alx: We wanna see her. As my dumber twin said, your standards are very high. That's apparent because you won't date me for some reason 😗.
Br: No- theres a lot of reasons for that. And who told you about P- Her?
A: Doesn't matter. I wanna see her. Im gonna go in and order a coke.
Br: If only you could.
A: What do you-?
Brent started driving.
Lh: Can we at least have our food?
Br: Not until we get back to my place.
