once again, i'm going to emphasize the most important aspect of the profile: it's a representation about you, whether as a person or as a creative mind. and a profile picture is another part to this.
i'm going to be honest, you can put as much or as little thought into this, it's all based on personal opinion. the most popular ones i've seen among fanfic writers are bias/character headshots, concept photos, memes, or other pictures. in the end, it's all up to you so i say to choose one that you like and will stick to for a while.
for me, i chose it because one, it's one of my favorite idols and also because it fits in with the theme of my whole profile.
the background goes with the same. it can go along with the theme you want your profile to have or just have it be an image you like.
