(Y/N) POV

"Help me, please help me," I hear a little girls voice call out

"Don't just watch like you did the last time," the voice continues.

"You let both me and her die, and all you did was watch," another voice says but this time it was a teen boy

"I wanted to save you, trust me I did," I protest

"Are you sure?" They ask

"Trust me I did!" I continue

"You just watched, your useless," the boy says

"I'm sorry ok! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry that I couldn't save you? Max, Jenn please, I tried, I tried so hard," I say in tears

"It wasn't enough," Jenn says looking down on me with her face covered in blood before I jolt out of sleep.

My face was stained in tears. I've had nightmares every night since I cleared SAO 2 months ago.

Since then, I'm now back at home. I still do rehab and visit a therapist weekly.

School is also starting soon.

A special school for the people who escaped SAO has opened. And the first day is tomorrow, my parents think it's best I attend it.

So here I am. No one should be home right now.

My family is all out doing something.

I walk around the house wondering what to do. My days have been filled with nothing. I don't even have Max to keep me company.

I guess there is something I can do.

I've been meaning to talk to Max's family for a while now, but I haven't had the courage to do it.

I've faced boss's that stood 10 meters taller than me and yet I'm scared to talk to people I once knew.

I put on some clothes and exit my house.

It's been a while since I've been outside, I mostly sulk in my room.

I walk a few blocks over and I arrived. Me and Max lived pretty close together, maybe that's why we were friends.

Max's house was quite big and very modern, his parents are top designers at Apple so they were loaded.

I stood looking at the building for a hard 5 minutes before I gained enough courage to ring the doorbell.

"Coming!" A girl yells before opening the door. The girl that stood before me was Max's twin sister, Haily.

She resembled Max in a lot of ways. She had blonde hair and quite frankly if she had not been Max's twin, I may have been attracted to her. That was before SAO though, nobody beats Liz....right Liz. No one beats my blue haired girl in SAO

"Ha, Hi," I say

"Hmm, (Y/N), come on in," she tells me, "Mom! Dad! We have a visitor!" She calls to her parents

They appear in the hallway before seeing me. Max's parents had aged since I had seen them last. His mom, still had the smooth blonde hair I remember and his dad still was scruffy as ever

"(Y/N), son, it nice to see you," his Dad says

"Yea, nice to see you too Mr. and Mrs. Kimberly," I say

"Come take a seat in the living room, (Y/N)" Mrs. Kimberly says

"Ok, " I say following the couple to the living room and taking a seat on the couch

"So how have you've been," Mr. Kimberly asks

"I've been good, it's quite boring without Max," I say bittersweetly

"Yea, it's certainly a lot quieter," Kaily says

"Ha, I bet," I say laughing a little

There was a moment of silence

"How did he die? If you don't mind sharing," Mrs. Kimberly says grimly

"I'll tell, you deserve to know. Max, died in a boss battle. He was caught off guard by a monster. And I wasn't fast enough to save him," I say clenching my hands

"You know, Max never was one for paying attention," Mr. Kimberly says.

As both Mrs. Kimberly and Kaily start crying silently.

"Yea, I wish he was still here, I would have had so many people to show him too," I say thinking of my guild

"I'm sure you meet many people," he says

"Yea, indeed I did," I say. We talked for another hour before I go to leave.

"Come back again," Haily asks as I leave

"I will," I say

"Did he suffer?" She blurts out

"No, the impact killed instantly," I say sadly

"Oh...ok.....bye," she says closing the door

I walk back home, and lounge around before its time to sleep.
