Nico

Nico di Angelo, Son of Hades, the Ghost King, and Ambassador of Pluto had only to read the front headline of his newspaper to know that his plan was dead. And not the 'call up from the dead with happy meals so we can talk' kind of dead. More like one of those poor spirits who got dissolved in the River Styx.

Hogwarts Supports Harry Potter's Voldemort Lie, the Daily Prophet proudly displayed. Nico did not need to go down to the Underworld to know what was the lie. The people milling about on the brightly decorated street, however, did not have that convenience.

Diagon Alley was as eye-scorching as ever. Nico was sitting at an ice cream shop, reading his newspaper and watching the people go by. Well, mostly the later. His dyslexia might not be as bad as most demigods, but English was so inconsistent.

It was the middle of August. The Romans and the Greeks were going to have a party at the end of the summer to celebrate their new alliance. Seeing them together, at peace instead of war, gave Nico hope. That was why he was here.

Nico had known about the Greeks and the Romans before they found out about each other, but they weren't the only societies he was keeping secret. Now, he was hoping to reveal the wizards. But first, he had to deal with Voldemort.

Nico stood and pocketed his newspaper. He wasn't getting the demigods involved in another war, not after all they've been through. He couldn't tell them until this mess was sorted out. He needed to help the wizards.

He took out the newspaper again and muttered a useful incantation he had learned to translate it to Greek.

Albus Percival Wolfric Brian Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, Supreeme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards and Chief Wizard of the Wizengamot, Order of Merlin, First Class, and Grand Sorcerer continues to support Harry Potter's story about the events at the end of the Triwizard Tournament last June. According to Harry Potter, aka. The Boy Who Lived, Voldemort was resurrected in an undetermined graveyard, killing Cedric Diggory, and attempting to kill Potter himself. Potter claims that he was forced to duel He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, but managed to summon the spirits of the people killed by Lord Voldemort. These spirits, Potter says, mobbed Voldemort and allowed him to escape.

Diggory's death was a tragic but sadly precedented accident during the Triwizard Tournament. The Triwizard Tournament has had a long history of deaths, leading to its discontinuation in 1792. Throughout it's 500 year history, however, it helped cultivate friendship and friendly competition between the three largest European schools of wizardry: Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang. A champion was selected to represent each school, and the three champions competed in three magical tasks. The schools took it in turns to host the tournament once every five years, and it was generally agreed to be a most excellent way of establishing ties between young witches and wizards of different nationalities — until, that is, the death toll mounted so high that the tournament was discontinued. It was with hopes that such comradery could be replicated, while minimizing the danger this last school year. However it was unsuccessful, and, true to its history, it claimed another student life.

Due to bad planning, and (may we say it?) a lapse of judgement in the headmasters of all three schools, the final task in the Triwizard Tournament took place in a maze, where constant surveillance of the champions was not possible. Due to this, we are not entirely sure what took place during the last moments of Diggory's life, but it is believed that he was ultimately killed by poison from a giant spider.

Despite the lack of evidence supporting Potter's claims, Dumbledore still believes him. It is unclear at the time whether Dumbledore has information he is withholding from the ministry, if his age is clouding his judgement, or if more sinister forces are at work. Dumbledore has had a history of favoritism towards Potter, and his possible affection towards the boy may cloud his judgement. He has supported the boy in more and more outlandish claims.

During Potter's first year at Hogwarts, he claimed to have rescued the Sorcerer's Stone from his Defense against the Dark Arts teacher, Quirinus Quirrell, saying that Quirrell was being possessed by He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. During his second year, he allegedly saved a girl, Ginny Weasely, from the ghost of teenaged You-Know-Who in the Chamber of Secrets. During his third year, he asserted that escaped mass murderer Sirius Black was in fact innocent, and the real criminal and Death Eater Spy was Peter Pettigrew, a wizard who has been dead for over thirteen years.

Dr. Andrew Baloski from St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, Trauma and Psychological Damage Department, says that Potter shows many symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. He further explained, "Many people with this disorder might be described as being very self-absorbed or egotistical. This self-absorption rises to the level of a clinical disorder because it significantly interferes with relationships, occupation, or other important domains in life. Many experts believe that this egotistical style is actually the NPD individual's attempt to deal with an underlying poor sense of self-worth. In the case of Harry Potter, this might be caused by lingering trauma over his parents' deaths. In many cases, he seems to have fixated on their murderer, repeatedly making up stories in which he defeats him. He may actually believe these stories, but that is just a further sign that he is mentally unstable."

Nico sighed and folded the newspaper again. The people who believed Potter were being targeted, Potter was dubbed 'mentally unstable,' and the ministry was ignoring Voldemort's return. He glanced back at the newspaper. Albus Percival Wolfric Brian Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts. He had heard of Dumbledore before. He'd defeated Grindelwald, decades ago, and had long been considered one of the brightest and most skilled wizards in the world. Maybe he was old and senile like the paper claimed, but Nico doubted it. It was time to pay Hogwarts a visit.
