Day and night
I look to the sky
Shut my eye
The sun shines down
From way up high.
Its golden light
Does touch my skin
Warming me
From deep within.
It brings new life
It feeds the earth
Without this star,
No life would birth.
I watched as light turned into dark
Expecting blackness, barren, stark.
Yet what I found was not just space,
It was lovely, simple beauty
Which no map could ever trace.
Stars upon stars,
A luminous glitter
That floats up above
In its heavenly skitter.
The moon itself
A sun on its own.
I cast my gaze up
and I don't feel alone.
The moon brings me comfort
Burning into the night,
Blanketing me
In her silver-blue light.
If I could discard my needing of sleep
And forever conscious remain
I'd watch this grand, intriguing cycle over
Again and again.

Final Farewell
As I say my last good-byes,
I wipe the tear drops from your eyes.
Trying to shush your gentle cries
I soothe you sweetly with white lies.
A quick farewell I curtly bid
While you your sadness bravely hid.
You watched me smile and walk away.
You see me leave and softly pray.
But you know deep within
I cannot stay,
For this shall be my final day.
