"Where's Adam? Don't tell me he's left for Merton already?" I inquire from Matt who just shrugs nonchalantly as he plays candy crush on his phone.

Since the graduation day, I have been dreading seeing Adam at the diner, but part of me is beginning to think that maybe I should work with him. I still don't like the FBI. I mean, look at how they treated me. They're manipulative and scary. They remind me of those heroes that do bad things for a good cause and think that makes them morally superior to the villains.

"When did he leave?" I press further.

"He hasn't. He'd be leaving on Monday morning." He finally looks up at me with suspicion. "You seem pretty interested in Adam's whereabouts. If I didn't know better, I'd say you were smitten by him"

"Ha ha, very funny" I say dryly. "I was just expecting him to show up here, you know, drinking black coffee and acting like the loneliest man in the world."

Great, now I do sound like I've been watching his every move, which I have, but definitely not because I am smitten by him. Matt looks at me a little longer then goes back to playing candy crush. It is silent for a while as I think about the possibility of seeing Adam before he leaves. I found myself partly praying I wouldn't and partly thinking I should.

"So what are your plans now that high school is over?" I ask because I need the distraction. My indecision was killing me.

He perks up. "I already got accepted into Hollens culinary school. It's one of the best. Give me six months, and I'm going to be all over your TV screen with my amazing recipes. By the way, did you watch my Youtube video last night? My numbers are looking good"

"Yes, even though you refused to give me video credits. I held that phone up for at least an hour." I complain. "Buy a phone stand for next time. My arm still aches"

"Oh, you'd survive," he says with a wave of the hand. I glare at him, and he adds. "Just kidding. Thank you so much. I'd make sure to give you credits next time"

The entrance door dings, and Violet comes bursting through. "Guess what" she screams excitedly.

"what?" I ask.

"I said guess. You always do that"

"You get to give another long lecture on your Instagram channel?" Matt chips in sarcastically.

Violet looks at him in surprise. "That's not what I'm excited about but yes, I have a live session this weekend and it's going to be quite interesting...Mina you have to be there with me pleeeease. I need an anchor girl. Sometimes I just ramble on and on...and I'm worried that I may be boring my viewers."

"So accurate" Matt agrees with a yawn.

Violet shoots him a look. "Well, excuse you. My topics are extremely important and need to be discussed"

"Exactly Vie, you dissect very important topics." I add before it escalates into a full-blown argument. "Now tell us what you wanted to say when you walked in"

She faces me and a smile spread across her face. "There's a school bon-fire tomorrow night."

"Really?"

"You sure?' Matt asks.

"Yes, check the school Instagram page. The populars are organizing it but everyone is free to come."

Matt is already checking. "We haven't had a bonfire since principal Atkins took over"

"Why?" I question.

"In his first year as principal, a girl OD'ed at a bonfire. She almost died and ended up in rehab"

"Whoa, that's terrible"
