The Missing Piece

Chapter 4

KATE'S POV 

(Phil. time) Friday, 9:30 a.m.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to NAIA Airport. Local time is 9:30 AM and the temperature is 29 degree celsius. For your safety and comfort, please remain seated with your seat belt fastened until the Captain turns off the Fasten Seat Belt sign. This will indicate that we have parked at the gate and that it is safe for you to move about.

On behalf of Philippine Airlines and the entire crew, I'd like to thank you for joining us on this trip and we are looking forward to seeing you on board again in the near future. Have a nice day! "

Pagkalapag ng eroplano ay kinuha ko kaagad ang luggage ko at bumaba na.

" Good morning Ms. Araneta. Welcome to the Philippines! " a man with black suit greeted me. He smiled sheepishly as if matagal ng hindi sya nakakangiti.

" Mr. Ace " 

I was amazed by the changes na nangyari sa kanya physically. Bumata ang itsura nya than before. In fact, halos di ko na siya makilala. Haha. Impressive.

" Nice to see you back, young lady. "

Mr. Ace served as an ace between Sierra to the other mafia groups. Utang ko sa kanya lahat-lahat ng nalalaman ko at kung ano ako ngayon. From my skills, my know-how's in the business, my connections and the mafia.

I gave my sincere smile.

"Many things have changed ahjussi. It won't be a good and relaxing stay for me. This will be a long  battle." My sincere smile turning into a bitter one.

(AN/ Ahjussi: middle aged man)

"How's Korea?" Immediately changing the topic.

"Oh. About that. I haven't went back there for almost a year."

"Jinja?!" I exclaimed in disbelief.
(AN/ Jinja: really)

I was surprised. Hindi kase natitiis ni Mr. Ace ang hindi makauwi dun. Ni pag-alis nga ay kinakailangan niyang bumalik agad sa hindi malamang rason. I wonder what happened. I'll just contact someone anyway to know what happened.

Inilingan lang ako ni Mr. Ace sabay abot ng folder sa akin.

"Well anyway. Here is your schedule for the following months. Every second counts young lady. You have to avoid hindrances sa mga plano natin."

I know. This is really important to us....to me most especially Mr. Ace. More than everybody wanted this mission to be accomplished. I planned every single detail in this. I gave up my life just to prepare myself. You just don't know how desperate I am. I am just controlling my emotions and take everything slow. Slowly but surely.

Instead of saying these words, I just smiled at him. He smiled back at me.

" You are like my daughter young lady so please be cautious. And by the way, the Sierras are waiting for you. Want to meet them first before heading home? "

" I would love to, Mr. Ace. "

Mr. Ace started the engine. I just stayed silent. Ang dami kong iniisip. I should execute everything smoothly and safely. I don't want our plans to go into waste.

"What'll happen if you see him young lady?" Out of the blue nyang tanong without leaving a contact sa daan.

"Nothing. I consider him as a ghost in my past—"

"—that haunts you." Pagpuputol nya sa sasabihin ko.

" No. I consider him as a ghost in my past that  should be forgotten. And if magkita man kami? I don't care and I dare. I'm not afraid of him. I won't give in and fall to his shits  anymore."

He smirked. "Easy young lady."

I didn't bother answering nor talking again.

" We're here. "

I immediately went out of the car and scanned the place.

I'm quite impressed. It looks like an ordinary house yet strategic. With all those high-tech windows facing the road, the landscapes ,the garage with full of err...cars. Andami siguro nila sa loob na naghihintay.

Ang mas nakaagaw ng atensyon ko ay ang sculpture na nasa gitna ng garden. It's a sword. A huge one. They really know what I like huh. Instead of showing na nagustuhan ko, I gave Mr. Ace a blank expression.

"Where do you hide the weapons and ammunitions?"

" Sa basement, young lady. "

" Great. Let's go "

Pinauna kong maglakad si Mr. Ace. Sabay naman ng paglalakad ko ay ini-scan ko uli ang paligid. Alam ko na may bumuntot na sasakyan sa amin kanina. Kaya pinaharurot ni ahjussi ang kotse kanina upang lituhin ito.

They already felt my presence. *smirk* Am I that threatening in their eyes? Tsk2. Wala naman akong planong galawin muna sila.

Wrong move.

Wag lang silang papahuli sa akin. May libro talagang matatapos pag nangyari yun. Mga sagabal. Tsk.

Pagkapasok namin, nagkalat sa loob ang mga Sierras.

Napatawa nalang ako dahil napakagalante, napakaseryoso, at napaka-inosente kung titingnan ang mga ito ngunit mala-demonyo pala ang kaloob-looban. Na handang pumatay o magpatayan ngayon, ora mismo.

Lahat sila ay naka-yuko sa akin upang ako'y batiin. Ikinumpas ko nalang ang kamay ko sa ere dahilan upang mapaupo sila.

"You guys went to the same school that I'll be attending right?"

They all nodded. I'm talking while looking intently in their eyes.

"Never let your guards down. They already started to make a move. Nakikialam ang mga ungas na walang alam. We will never let that happen. We won't let them ruin everything that has been planned."
