Three days ago Alex defeated Aven. Three days after she still felt as if the fight had been yesterday.
It was just dawn when Alex felt a weight on the side of the bed. She had been asleep, dreaming of the big party they'd had last night to celebrate their victory. Her body was still recovering from the fight; and so was her mind. Everyone had lost so many friends and family over the whole course of the war.
The weight shifted, reminding Alex that he was still there. She knew who it was without even having to look. He had often come into her bedroom and done this when they were with the Tia Aurans.
"Alex," Kaiden said softly, "wake up."
"Go away Kaiden," she mumbled sleepily, "Can't you see I'm sleeping?"
To this response he just chuckled and said, "Come on Alex. Come for a walk with me, I want to show you something."
"Fine!" she declared, "Just let me get changed first."
Kaiden smiled softly at her then silently left the room.
As Alex got dressed she felt sense of uneasiness. Something wasn't quite right.
