My lesson with Hagrid was today.  You know, the one where I was a dragon. I was nervous. What if they recognised me? I dressed in light clothes under my uniform, as I would have to take them off. I breathed in, then out. I was fine. I was tiered. Very tiered. I had been following Hermione's ideas and researching after lessons, and training before. I could see the difference it made. I was stronger now, more agile. I was good at dodging.

COMC was first lesson, so I needed to skip breakfast and get down there. I walked out into the common room, and through the corridors, consulting my map as I went. I had to turn left, right, and down to the Entrance hall, then move outside to Hagrids hut. I wandered across the grounds in silence, walking slowly to the small hut.

Knocking on the door, I said "Hagrid! It's me, Jane."

He opened the door.

"Ahh, Jane, come in. I was thinking, maybe you could be in the Forest before, an' I'll introduce you, without the name, an' then you will come out!"

I patted the slobbering Fang. "Can I pin Malfoy if he insults me?"

He looked doubtful, but said "Make sure you don't hurt anyone, but tha' should be fine."

"Ok. Where should I wait?"

He brightened up. "Well, I've found this clearing, jus' inside the Forest. I'll show you an' then you can change, an' then the lesson will start!"

"Sure! Where is the clearing?"

"I'll show yer.."

Hagrid took me outside, and showed me the clearing. I waited til he left to set up the lesson, and took off my uniform, then the clothes underneath, then shifted. I stretched, kneading my talons into the ground. that felt good. It had been too long. I focused my hearing, and heard the class arrive, chatting as they went. I heard the voices of my friends.

"Have you seen Jane? She missed breakfast." Hermione was worried.

"She missed a meal!" Ron gasped.

"That's impossible!" Harry was confused.

" OK, settle down! I've got a treat for you!"

I heard a mass groan. Hagrids 'treats' were usually very dangerous.

"Now, we'll be startin' a new topic, an' I've asked a freind of mine if they'll appear. Now we'll be studying Elder Dragons." He was cut off at this point by Malfoy.

"Those things? Arn't they all dead?"

"No, they ain't. Anyway, remember, the dragon that will appear is just as intelligent as yer, so be polite! Can you come out now please!"

These last words were intended to me. I decided to make my entrance dramatic. I flapped my wings, slowly rising into the sky. Gliding forward. I descended, and landed in front of the stunned group.

"Thank yer. Now this dragon, who does not want her name to be revealed, is a young one, abou' the same age as you. Do you mind them coming up?"

I shook my head, then folded my wings and set my head on my paws.

"Ok. Yer can come closer, if you wish.

Hermione strode forward immediately, then looked at me reproachfully, patting my snout. She had obviously worked it out. I shot her a wink. Harry and Ron edged forward slowly, and some of the class followed them when Hermione didn't get burnt to pieces. Soon I had almost the entire class close, and patting some part of me. Almost. Pansy and Malfoy were turning their noses up, when, as Harry scratched behind my ear, and I purred like a cat, Malfoy strutted across toward me, saying

"If Potter can tame it, then this.. thing is oviously not as wild sa it looks. It's a pet."

I growled lowly, and gently shook my admirers off. Harry was stubborn however and whispered in my ear

"Try not to kill him. He dosn't mean it really. Nice Dragon. Calm Dragon. Please don't kill me."

I snorted, and gave him a get-out-of-my-way-I-don't-want-to-hurt-you look. He backed off. I straightened to my full height, and spread my wings slightly. Malfoys nose was too high in the air for him to see me.

"It's tame. A PET. Docile as a cat. It's claws have probably been cut off. It's TAME."

He was muttering.

I let out a low hiss. preparing to pounce.

"Its a stupid animal. Stupid."

And then I pounced. Moving as quick as a flash of red lightning, I had Malfoy pinned to the grass. My claws were sheathed, so he would not be harmed, but now I slid one out, and growled. My narrowed eyes were inches from his, my sharp teeth in full view. He fainted. I retreated, and glared at him. Pansy shrieked, and I rolled my eyes.

"That beast has killed him! No, he's waking up. Shouldn't you put a muzzle on it? It's dangerous! It nearly killed him."

"No SHE didn't." Hermione was standing up for me. "She had her claws in. She never even hurt him. She gave him what he deserved. Now, shut up. Do you want her to pin YOU as well?"

I growled softly, reinforcing the threat.Pansy got very pale, and stormed off, tossing her head.

Hagrid was worried. "Umm, maybe you should leave? You're kind of scarin' people."

I gave him a sorrowful look, butted Hermione with my head, and took off, soaring back to the clearing. When there, and dressed, I grinned. I had beaten Malfoy. I had had him under my claws. And he FAINTED! Ha! I am awesome.

I strode out of the forest. being careful no-one saw me. I crept up on Harry and ron, who were discussing my whereabouts.

"But then where is she? I mean she missed an awesome lesson..."

"HERE I AM!"

They both jumped a foot in the air, and I burst out laughing.

"Your FACES!"

"That's NOT funny."

"Yes it is! It is VERY funny."

Still chuckling, I lead them into the Entrance Hall.
