I was in a lot of trouble. Thinking wildly, I said

"Ummm... Mountain climbing?"

She shook her head.

"Skydiving practice?"

"No. The truth please."

I sighed.

"OK, but don't faint."

I spread my wings. She blinked, and froze, staring at the red dragon wings.

"Oh." And then she fainted.

As she regained consciousness, I stood over her.

"I said DON't faint." I shook my head. "Honestly."

"Your an Elder Dragon."

"Yep."

"Who can fly"

"Yes."

"You have WINGS."

"Indeed. Can you stop repeating things please?"

"I think I need to sit down."

"OK"

I helped her to a chair.

"I wasn't expecting this."

"Not many are."

"Who knows?"

"Hagrid. I expect he has told Dumbledore too."

"Wow. This is amazing. But... arn't Elders extinct? They all disappeared."

"That they did."

"Why are you here then?"

I shrugged.

"Can you transform too?"

"Yes, a red dragon."

"I should have known. The eyes, the hair..."

"Olivander knew at a glance."

"Well, of course he would. He's Olivander. What... What can you do? Which Power?"

"Power?"

"Every Elder has a special power. Healing, X-ray vision... Whats yours?"

"Well... I can breath fire?"

"Yes, all Elders can do that. Isn't there anything else?"

"Not so far."

"I'm still in shock, you know."

"Yeah."

"Can you fly? I mean, I kinda want to see."

"Sure."

I jumped out the window, Hermione watching, and dived, then did a loop and hovered outside the window.

"Umm, can you move? I can't hover forever."

She stepped away from he window, and I alighted on the windowsill, stepping inside and folding my wings.

"Thanks."

"Wait till I tell Harry! He'll be so shocked! I-"

"Hermione, I want to keep it a secret."

She was shocked. "But... Why?"

" I don't want people judging me."

She thought for a moment, then agreed.

"I can't fathom how you're here though."

"Neither can I. I was left at an orphanage in London, then left when they tried to cut off my wings. I saw my dad die when that Dementor came, but.. why would my mum abandon me? It doesn't make sense."

"Lets think in the morning. I need to sleep now."

"Sure."

We climbed into bed, but I stayed awake. I had too many thoughts whirling around in my head to sleep. It was nice to have someone to confide in.
