The five Marauders were a widely known group at Hogwarts, and another widely known fact was that James Potter was set on marrying Lily Evans. Recently, Remus had jokingly suggested that James should write her a song. James had ignored your snort and eye roll, and had taken Remus's joke absolutely siriusly. (Pun intended.)
