Meet Again

Someone knocked,

"I am coming" Sophia called back, the knocking continued,

"Who wants to break down this door ?" She said as she made her way to the door,

"Oh my God, Sophia," she embraced Sophia who was all smiles,

"Lily how are you?", Sophia asked,

"Look at me I'm good and fine",

"Come in", Sophia urged her friend,

"Sophia, what are you cooking the aroma is divine" Lilian said already going in to the kitchen,

"My favorite" Lilian squealed like a small child,

"See I have a good leg",

"How come?"

"Because it brought me here for this delicious food,"

"So you came for the food only, I'm hurt",   Sophia said,

"No I came for the food and little Fred, by the way where is he, I have not seen him around", she asked,

"He went out with Mama but they will be back soon, let me check the food okay?"

"Yes I'll go to the parlour", she left, few minutes later the two we're eating fried plantain and potatoes with a steamy bowl of hot beans,

"I'm over full, who told me to eat to much", Lilian complained after they had finished eating,

"It is your longer throat", Sophia answered and Lilian groaned,

The room was enveloped in silence,

"What is wrong?", Lilian broke the silence,

"What do you mean, nothing is wrong"

"I am your friend, and I know that something is wrong",

"How was your trip?, Sophia asked to change the topic of their discussion,

'Don't even try to change it, now spill it out"

"I am confused and tired, as the days go by it is getting harder to keep this secret especially from mother, and Alex he is not helping matters at all, he doesn't come back home on time and even if he does, he does not stay in our room, he shouts at me at any little provocation, I just thank God that he hasn't beaten me, all this is creating doubt in my mother-in-law, I know, and as for Alex the both of us are meant to be hiding this together but he seems to have forgotten all of it"  she said,

"I understand it is not easy, you know I was never in support of this, I never liked that Alex of a man, imagine what the old woman would go through when she gets to Know that a child who she has grown to love is not hers", Lilian said,

"That is just what I don't want", Sophia spoke,

"That useless Alex, no offense to you, but that is the fact, he is not a man, and I don't know why you are still with him, what kind of man has a beautiful woman like you and for three good solid years has not thought of getting Intimate with her",

"Lily, you know the bases of this marriage, he does not love me, so why would he think of intimacy,"

"That is the point, he is a wimp, just imagine if I was a guy and I saw you with your big backside and flat tummy, see I will be following you like a mad man", Lilian said making Sophia to laugh,

"But on a serious note," Lilian said,

"If it was like that, my life wouldn't have turned to this," Sophia replied sadly, "Fred's real father after all left me so I don't expect any other person to love me", Sophia said,

"Speaking of Fred's real father, I saw him some days ago", Lilian said,

"What? Are you for real?" Sophia asked,

"Yeah, he was trying to talk to me, asking about you and other bullshit"

"And what did you say,"

"Did you expect me to talk to him? I ignored him and when he didn't stop I gave him the insult of his life that when next he sees me, na run"

"Lily!"

"What? But do you want to see him,"

"No no not at all",

"Don't lie to me, do you?"

"No, I am done with him, I don't give a damn about him, he is my past and I don't want to see him, hear him or be reminded of him",

"Better my dear, it is better that way," Lilian said,

"So babe how is Julius?", Sophia asked, Lilian blushed,

"He is fine",

"Wait a second is Mrs strong woman blushing," Sophia teased,

"Stop it" Lilian asked,

"Okay,  but how is he doing, did he later get it for you,"

"Yes, he was really cute about it", Lilian smiled,

"Oh my gosh, to tell you the truth, the both of you are a perfect match", Sophia said,

"Really, you think so",

"Yes it is true and anyone that sees the both of you knows it, now I can't wait to see you guys married and having kids", Sophia poked,

"Sophie, you are the worst",

"No I am the best",

"I missed you",

"I missed you too, and I love you",

The both of them hugged.
