Klaus reached the compound and found Caroline had just stepped out of the shower, she was in a towel and as he stood by the door he tried hard to control his eyes which wanted to wander around and take in every inch of her perfect body. He just stood there until she spoke breaking him out of his trance
“Klaus? The bag?” she spoke trying not to blush as she had noticed him staring at her
“right..” he shook his head and stepped inside, giving her the two bags
“thanks” she smiled and opened hers trying to see what to wear
“I’ll be downstairs” he said but before he could walk away she stopped him, yes she was still in a towel but she was too curious
“Wait…what is Hayley doing here? She said it would be better if I heard it from you. What’s going on?” Caroline inquired
“oh..” Klaus put his hands in his pockets, not only did he have to deal with Aurora but now he had to tell her about Hayley? But she needed to know, he couldn’t hide the truth forever “she and I have a baby together”
“what?!” Caroline exclaimed, surely he was joking “but…you’re… how?” her voice was now a mere whisper
“my werewolf side I guess…that’s why I rushed here, the witches were trying to use the baby against me but all that is over now”
“you have a baby” Caroline repeated, still trying to process “with Hayley, wow”
“it was a one night stand, not my proudest moment but it gave me my daughter and Elijah believes she has made me a better man,” he said with a smile.
Caroline felt like the reality she knew was disintegrating and it was giving her a headache
“well congratulations Klaus” she finally said with a smile then turned to look at Bonnie, she had to leave New Orleans before more surprises could be thrown at her “Is that Vincent guy back yet? Bonnie and I have to leave as soon as possible” she said
It seemed like Klaus’s life was full and there was no place for her anymore, she felt sad about it but since when had she ever had a man who stayed? She had to get used to the fact that they all left, she was just a phase. When Klaus saw the look on her face and the sadness in her eyes, his smile faltered and he felt a tug at his heart.
“he’ll be here soon,” he assured her “in the mean time would you like a tour of the city? Maybe even meet my daughter Hope?” he asked her, she wanted to turn him down, say she’d rather stay by Bonnie’s side but she found herself unable to utter the words
“let me get dressed,” she said and he nodded then excused himself.

.
When Klaus took her to Hayley’s apartment they found Hope asleep so they couldn’t spend much time there.
“she’s so adorable,” Caroline stared at her in her crib, the reality that she could never have a kid hitting her and she subconsciously touched her stomach, a move which didn’t go unnoticed by Klaus  “congratulations you two,” she turned away from the baby to look at Klaus and Hayley “if I had known I would have brought a gift or something.”
“that’s alright love,” Klaus gave her a small smile
“your gift can come in form of babysitting,” said Hayley with a grin, she had a lunch date for the next day and even though her lunch date was expecting her to go with the baby, she wanted to spend some time alone with her “lets say tomorrow from 12;00hrs to maybe 3 o’clock?” she suggested, she knew how much Klaus liked Caroline and wanted to make an effort for everyone to get along and be comfortable with each other.
Caroline looked back at the baby in the crib then at Hayley
“you trust me to watch your baby?” she asked in surprise, she was honored that a girl she hadn’t like much would change like this, maybe motherhood really did change people.
“I know you wouldn’t hurt her Caroline, and Klaus will be there if you don’t want to deal with the dirty diaper portion of babysitting,” Hayley slightly chuckled and Caroline smiled brightly
“alright, I’ll be here to pick her up at 11;30hrs,” she said with excitement, she had taken up a few babysitting gigs when she was younger and she found babies adorable.
From the apartment Klaus took her to a bar near his compound, the sun had set and Freya had sent him a text saying Vincent had returned and they were working on Bonnie, he needed to keep Caroline pre-occupied so that she wouldn’t freak out or be anxious.
As they sat at the bar a blonde bartender came over with a bright smile.
“Klaus, I thought you’d be at home making up for lost times with Aurora,” she teased and Klaus groaned, glaring at her.
“Cami, this is Caroline, Caroline Cami,” he introduced the two blondes and Camille’s eyes widened in awe
“hi,” caroline smiled at her, wondering if she knew who Klaus really was considering that she was human.
“the Caroline Forbes?” Cami blurted out earning a warning low growl from Klaus which she ignored
“You’ve heard of me?” Caroline gave her a quizzical look but when she opened her mouth to answer Klaus grabbed her arm
“Doctor patient confidentiality Camille,” he warned
“Right,” Cami pulled back “what can I get for you guys?” she asked sweetly, Caroline was so confused
“Doctor?” she raised an eyebrow
“oh yeah, therapist by day, bartender by night”
“and Klaus is your patient?” Caroline looked at him curiously but he just shrugged, she felt so out of the loop and didn’t like it
“being a father was scaring the crap out of him and the big bad hybrid needed someone to rant to, someone who wouldn’t judge but would try to understand,” Camille explained
“Cami!”
“okay okay, I’ll bring the bourbon, no need to go all wolf on me,” she chuckled and moved away, Caroline shifted her gaze to Klaus but he wouldn’t turn to look at her.
“I’d rather not get into that love,” he said softly and she bit her lip, as much as she wanted to bombard him with questions she had to respect his privacy and not cross boundaries so she nodded.
Camille brought a bottle and two shot glasses, pouring to the brim and moving them in front of the two, Klaus emptied his immediately and pushed for another one.
“so, how did you two meet?” Caroline asked Camille
“well, like I said he needed someone to talk to but didn’t want to pull me into the supernatural world so he’d compel me to forget about it whenever I wasn’t with him and he did try to use me to distract Marcel as he was plotting against him..”
“a blonde distraction huh,” Caroline grinned and playfully shoved him “I wonder where you got that idea from,”
Klaus looked at her with hooded eyes and a smirk formed on his lips.
“she’s just as stubborn as you love,” he put in “managed to fight my compulsion, to leave clues and make sure she remembered that she had been compelled. Of course she throw a tantrum but couldn’t resist my charm for long,” Camille rolled her eyes “and now we’re friends,” he concluded
“you two were..”
“oh no, not like that,” Camille spoke immediately “he was still very much hang up on a certain blonde he had left in mystic falls” she smiled making Caroline blush. Klaus had been pouring shot after short to calm his nerves
“alright, enough with the Q and A, dance with me Caroline,” he held out his hand for her and she hesitantly took it.
She felt like she had missed out a lot and wanted to know everything about his life in New Orleans, as his hands settled on her waist she felt her body react in a heated way and tried not to look at his face, his eyes which were staring at her as if she was the only woman in the room and his lips which she wanted to taste once again, she knew just skilled his mouth was, trying not to drift, she shook her head slightly and put her hands on his shoulders.
Aurora was in the shadows watching.
