Gabriel was being serious when he said to leave all the talking to him.

He answered questions before I could, most of it being almost simple enough for me to remember in case I get quizzed on it later.

Galen was his older brother, who shared minimal resemblance to Gabriel. He looked gentle and playful and contrary to what everyone made him seem like. Was it this brother that Gabriel was worried would take the inheritence?

So what, they could split it.

Galen's light brown eyes met mine and I realised I was staring, I quickly looked away.

I simply nodded when I was referred to, which was never as they all just ignored I was even standing there. Did they not see Gabriel's arm around me like the loving couple that we were? Or are we on the brink of divorce, I still didn't get their plan there were simply too many plot holes to it.

Divorced but trying again, wasn't that what he said?

Where was Fern when I needed him? I casted an eye around to see if I could spot him without making it obvious.

I suddenly felt Gabriel's fingers dig into my skin, almost making me jump. Why the hell was he holding on like he was about to fall off a clip? I tried moving my hip away from those pin like fingers but there was no more further to move apart from into his side.

Why was he standing so close?

I casted a look at his face trying to see whether he could tell how hard he was holding me but nope, instead I saw his resting poker face but his eyes were narrowed.

I looked back at his brother who was saying something.

Gabriel didn't respond, but the grip on my side tightened and cleared my throat trying to get his attention before he was going to tear that skin off through the dress.

I was definitley going to have a bruise tomorrow at this rate.

I lowered my hand to my waist, my fingers on top of his, perhaps it looked almost like a loving caress to anyone else but for me, well, I pinched his fingers down hard, hopefully causing him some type of pain to release his hold.

But he didn't.

Was I not strong enough?

I tried again, but there was still no reaction from him, he was kidding me right? I needed to carry some pliers around, wait no I can't because that would make it obvious. I had to do something because I was staring to lose feeling in that side of my hip.

Instead of pinching him I decided to move my fingers to they sat in-between his, interlacing them where I could.

His fingers loosened.

Finally, I could breathe. I let out the breathe I realised I was holding in, my hips tingled in a bad way as the blood rushed back there. Yep, a bruise was guaranteed.

I loosened my fingers trying to put as much distance between his hand and mine but Gabriel decided to do something, for show of course, he interlaced his fingers with mine. It wasn't the traditional interlace either since it was both our left palms, so his fingers were interlaced with mine in an uncomfortable way where his palm was touching the top side of my hand.

This was weird.

But at least my hips wasn't going to be indented for life, so I let it drop. At least he wasn't squeezing my fingers because I was positive that Fern would have to chop some off after I would lose feeling to them.

"Excuse us," Gabriel said.

Who?

Oh, us.

He swiftly turned, weirdly in front of me, forcing me to take a step back as I followed suit away from his family, I itched to turn around and see what their expresions were but Gabriel walked too fast for me to do that. I had to stare at where I was going to so I didn't trip over.
