Everything was quiet.

"Mega?" I called closing the door behind me and looking around.

No answer.

I silently walked upstairs straining my ears for the faintest sound.

No one in the guest room, no one in the bathroom...

The door to Mega's room was slightly open and I peeked in.

He was there, sitting against the wall, passed out.

He had a half-empty bottle in his hand, a few more bottles lying beside him, some of them smashed.

It smelled faintly of alcohol.

"Mega?"

I came up closer to him, tapping him on the shoulder.

"Mega... Mega wake up."

He opened his eyes slowly, looking around, finally focusing on Jacob's face.

His eyes were red, the pain in them unbearable.

The little broken bits and pieces in his eyes shone out bright.

"I can't. The memories. They haunt me." He closed his eyes.

"I want to forget. Just- ... forget."

A single tear ran down his cheek.

"Mega... Everything is gonna be okay... Mega... please... no..."

But he already passed out again.

The memories haunted him again, taking it to the point where he had to drink to forget.

Drink to ease the pain for just a short time.

But just to forget.

I picked him up and carried him to the guest room, laying him on the bed.

I sat down beside him taking his hand, looking at him.

This is where he ended up, and I couldn't even stop him.

This is what kind of friend I was.

Terrible.

But I will change.

I will look after him for as long as it takes, making sure he was ok.

I brushed a strand of his wavy, dark hair from his forehead, kissing him there.

"I love you."

Yeah, I've killed Mega a couple of times now, I let him live in this one...

I might start on some happy one-shots... I have a few ideas, but I suck at writing positively, sorry guys.
