She Weeps
A poem for mothers who have lost their son due to slavery trade, harsh civil rights moments, and cruel punishment enacted by law enforcements.

She weeps loudly so everyone can hear,
Offering people from near and far to come here
Despite what they say and despite what they do,
She simply does not care if she looks like a fool

She looks out the window as they carry him away
Without a word to say the view creates a disarray
So abused and confused she can not fathom why it had to be her baby boy
Why must they treat this strong man like a little ole toy
They work him and beat him until they've had enough
And on auctioning day they tell him to look tough so that they can make enough
For all the burdens she has carried she does not say a word
Instead she just keeps on staring and oh does she weep

She turns on the news only to see her eldest son had been abused
As she gets on her knees outside there's a fuse as people in white hats scream in amuse
She does not understand why people with power tend to misuse
Although she knows they are wrong she knows not to question them
Bloody and weak her son comes through the door
As she helps him inside a sound brings him to the floor
She drops down instantly giving him the love that she can and oh does she weep

She stands from a far and watches the man in the car
Quickly he runs out and demands the man to drop the jar
Within minutes he's frustrated because he's being ignored so he pulls out his gun and signals that he's ready for war
He calls for back up and now there's one against four
They quickly shoot the man down along with his potential
But the blind side does not feel the need to question his credentials
And the woman that has seen it all can not make a call because that'll cause the hero to fall
Unable and broken she puts her head down and oh does she weep
