All the things in life
We take for granite
We want, we wish
And flat out demand it
Were never just happy
With what we've got
We live for excess
And give others no thought 3
While some people are stuggling
Just to eat
Others flaunt their excess
and can't be discreet
They turn their cheeks
And look the other way
While others search for refuge
A home for the day
Sunken cheeks and hollow eyes
A Sorrowful look for these passers by
Who don't acknowledge them
If for even they try
Who won't look in their faces
They forcefully resist
Convincing their selves
That they don't exist
On with their days
Those faces are easily forgotten
The spoils of their riches
Have made them rotten
Down to the core
Unable to change
A wallet full of cash
But can't spare no change
At home at night
In comfy King size bed
While the faces of the day
Search for a place to lay their head
At least those lucky enough
Not to end up dead
Its a vicious cycle
That repeats each day
A Selfishness and greed
Keeps compassion at bay
Until the day they notice
That face has just dissapeard
Now they give them a thought
Now isn't that weird
They wonder what's happened
How have they fared
To justify their actions
And act like they cared
To what was their fate
They may never know
And now they see them
Though they don't show
Flesh from their bones
They stare as they rot
A sad fate has befallen
Not even a plot
They pull up beside them
And extend them their change
But they don't take it
Now isn't that strange
They empty their wallet trying to give them All the money you've brought
But they tell them No!
Just keep what you've got!
They cry "Why won't you take it, Please you need it more than me!"
They respond
"The dead don't eat, can't you see?"
"Besides you can spend it in hell!
The first drink is on me!"
